Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

An amazing/amazingly stupid idea

Mounted archery, only on a fixie. While riding no-handed as fast as you can, shoot one arrow each at three stationary targets in rapid succession.

I'd say you could do either. You would, of course, get a lot more points for doing it in traffic.

The things that come to you while mowing the lawn...

I was fantasizing the other day of riding down this one road near me that is notorious for dogs swinging a ball and chain mace.

Holy crap! Do the dogs swing the mace right at you or do they aim for your tires?

Thats a great idea! Similar to my idea of bike jousting. Full speed toward each other, if you fall, you lose.

Lets start a medieval bike-sport festival....

The biathalon club I belong to has summer races with bikes. However, no carrying or shooting from the bike.

I like this concept.

It's weird you say that, because it seems like the same things that attract people to fixed gear riding also seem to attract people to primitive archery. The same back-to-basics spirit pervades both hobbies so why not combine them? BTW, a bicycle rim is one of the best ways of curving a bow.
