Ron, not sure if you saw this in the other thread (and time for another shameless bump!) that this ride is not on the www.bikesbl.org calendar. What's up with that?

Thanks for the idea. I completely forgot about posting there.
There's a full page ad for the ride in the August Free Wheelin' magazine, page 11.

Yup. I'm also doing the One Love century on Saturday, so I'll be taking this one pretty slow. Well, even slower than usual.

Looking forward to the water bottles!

Think I'll just be doing the metric on this one. I haven't gotten to ride much in the past week. In addition to recovering from the Spinning thru Time century, I had a wisdom tooth taken out last Monday. That, plus my work schedule last week kept my weekly miles down to one ride of less than 30.

I'm also planning on doing the Wilson on 9/19, and 3 full centuries in 6 weeks a bit much for my level of fitness ATM.

Dan, the Wilson is on the 10th of September. Hopefully that was a typo!

I'm considering the Wilson. Work interferred the last two years and the year before that I couldn't. I was an SBL board member and was "obligated" to work a rest stop.

I did the Wilson last year. It's a great ride, and really nice course. I was caught out by myself on one long section into a headwind, so that was a little discouraging, but once I realized I wasn't lost, I also found a good group of folks to ride with,so that made it fun. I'm skipping it this year because I'm doing the MS150, riding on Team Erin's Fight (www.erinsfight.org) with a woman suffering from MS.

Funny how the zero and nine are right next to one another on the keyboard.

Actually, it was not a typo. I really had the dates mixed up in my head. Thanks for setting me straight.

Some friends invited me to ride the MS150 with them. I've never ridden it before. Can you do just one day? Are there rest stops?
Maybe I'll do that instead of the Wilson. ?????

Ron, I don't see why you couldn't do one day. Well, actually, you are supposed to raise $250 in donations, so I'm not sure how they would handle it. As far as I can tell, it's 85 miles on Saturday, and 65 on Sunday. It should be a great ride - I've hiked down in that area, but never been biking. Let me see if I can link to a map for ya: http://http://www.ms150atlantachalle...Directions.pdf

The Share the Road Challenge is in the history books until next year.

I met yet another BF member, Pedal Wench, at the ride. Very nice young lady.

Too bad for those who missed the STR Challenge. It was an awesome ride.

Ha! Not-so-young, but thanks! It was a pleasure putting face to the name.

It was a great ride. Much hillier than I was expecting (not sure why I thought it would be flat - maybe wishful thinking?) but the food at the rest stops was great and well stocked even towards the end of the day. Great variety of foods, and the maps had all the store stops marked, so that helped with planning as well.

I decided that I wasn't really up to a second century this weekend, so I took not one, but two shortcuts. Still ended up with almost 96 miles. I need to work on my short-cutting skills.

By the way, the MACC One Love Century was extraordinary too. Lost count of the number of SAG vehicles that passed on the century route, and also great reststops, potties at all of them, and again, happy volunteers staffing them. Sorry, Ron, but you can't beat reggae music and Jamacian food and watermelon for a finish party!

Did the 70 mile route (writeup in the Road Cycling forum).

Pedal Wench, you aren't kidding about the hills. Holy cow!

We have to do some organization on a future ride to get some of us Atlanta area folks together. FWIW, I was the guy in the Georgia Tech jersey who looked like he was about to die during the last 20 miles.

Oh -- the guy I saw lying on the ground was in a blue and white jersey. He said he was okay, so I kept pedalling. Glad it wasn't you!

We tried. We had 99X providing music at the start of the ride.

I'll get a few ideas from Greg about "alternative foods". I saw him at the end of the ride. He's the president of MACC. Real nice guy.

Actually, I found out halfway through your ride that there was gonna be pizza at the end. Trust me, that inspired me up that one long uphill slog after the Silk Sheets section of the ride. I knew I only had 22 miles to go until pizza!

Now, if you combined the two - your pizza and MACC's watermelon - that would have been perfect!
