My work schedule got changed so I doubt I'll be able to make the Thinking Man...I might be able to sneak in the last 30 minutes or so, but doubtful

I have seen some others write about bike paths, but even without them it isn't a bad commute. My wife and I lived essentially at the corner of Ponce and Clairmont from 90 to 93 and I commuted by bike to GSU. It was 7 miles one way. I was commuting at the time in 25 minutes, and it would take 20 minutes to get there by car. And the route I took was out of the center of Clairmont on Dekalb Ave to Edgewood to the school. It is very commutable.

awright! I'm probably only a mile from there as the crow flies, maybe a 5-8 minute bike ride!

I'll stop in and say hi!

So Ron, can we call you "shop rat" now? Welcome to the club. I'm in the middle of transitioning to a new shop myself. Hooray for change

I'm moving from Gainesville, FL to Atlanta soon to go to SCAD. I need a place to stay and a regular riding group! What's the traffic like on Peachtree? I'm trying to figure out how far from the school I can manage.

Peachtree isn't bad (not exactly leisurely either) if you don't mind riding in traffic. Their's some climbing to do, you will get used to that around here soon enough. What type of riding do you do?

OK, give that one a couple of months. You will be a rat after you know where the campy return springs are and you have explained the difference between a "rim" and a "wheel" at least 50 times.

I rather enjoy riding on Peachtree actually...if you're going north/northeast you usually have a ridiculous tailwind and it's fun to fly by the cars and through the traffic even though it's a modest uphill ride.

Lots of traffic though, but the constant lights usually keep things pretty slow & safe.

I'm working there one day a week until the middle of march when I'll go full time(gave the old boss plenty of notice). I'm cool with crazy ladies, at least the ones that are crazy for bikes

I like Lee. He sold me my first bike at his Dad's shop (Challenge Schwinn - RIP ) in 1999 when I got back into cycling. He has always treated me right.

Peachtree is great. I miss the commute I used to have up and down it. I'd recommend moving closer to downtown than Buckhead because riding in Buckhead is scary as heck. Anywhere in the downtown, Castleberry, Edgewood, Little Five, Inman Park areas would be good for commuting down to SCAD.

So who's doing the Georgia Rides to the Capitol ride next week? It's Tuesday March 6th, not many people have registered yet. We need to get these numbers up (only about 500 folks so far), so if you are planning on going (or just maybe) please register soon at www.georgiaridestothecapitol.org!

(this message is on behalf of my boss, I hope to see y'all there)

If I'm not working (don't know my schedule for next week yet) I'll probably ride with the Decatur group.

You know it's for Fred, I'll be riding from Decatur. I wonder why my city (Atlanta) doesn't have it's own group of riders?
