Can anyone direct me to a link of trails in the area? That would be really helpful, thanks!

Yeah, come on guys. What is happening in the Atlanta area? I need to know what to expect when I get back there.

A little update: I was planning to take a month in Atlanta, but the way things look right now, my contract here is to end around June, so that would be too close for a month vacation. So, hopefully, I will see ya'll soon and, as always, I will jump into the fray full throttle. Any new actions coming up to get involved with?

I've begun series of blog articles on transportation in various parts of metro Atlanta, with an emphasis on cycling and public transit. My blog has mostly focused Inside the Perimeter, but I'm interested in expanding into more regional coverage. I'm starting with Cobb County, and the first cycling article is at

https://larryfeltonjohnson.typepad.co...g-in-metr.html

If anyone has any input or suggestions I'd appreciate it.

You need to fix your settings. My count (~10 posts per page) shows we're on page 64.

Spring must be in the air because I'm working three days a week all month. I haven't worked this much since October.

Hey y'all.

I'm over in the East Atlanta Village. Building up my courage and skills (oh and lungs) for commuting to the Capitol.

I just acquired a GT Avalanche and I've been having lots of fun with it.

Anyway, been wondering if anyone rides in North GA around the Cherokee county area.

Also, thinking about doing brasstown bald this weekend... starting in dawsonville. Any takers?

Check out atlbike.org. They do lots of rides in the N & NW parts of town.
Also check out the SBL ride calendar for rides up your way.

Hey guys. Wanted to throw in a plug for the Dick Lane Velodrome in East Point. If you've never attended a track race - you don't know how exciting watching a race can be! It is by far the most spectator friendly form of cycling. For the committed cyclist, you probably won't be able to resist the next step - taking the intro class and getting your butt out on those high bank turns. Come on out to one of the Festival of Speed events (see schedule) - you'll be hooked on the adrenalin!

Hope nobody here was affected by last nights weather. I was set to ride home from Buckhead, luckily my wife was in the area and picked me up in the car. We were passing Cotton Mill lofts when it hit, it was crazy! Having a bicycle on your car's roof has a very interesting effect in 100mph winds.

Anyhow, I hope everyones alright.

I ride around Charokee County a lot. That is where most, if not all, my base training rides are. Great, great roads out there I tell you.

If you ever wanna ride, just PM me.

Hey Josh. Glad nothing bad happened to you. I was watching the news this morning. Wow. I didn't know it was a tornado in downtown Atl. They said the Georgia Dome had two big holes ripped in the roof, the top floor(s) of the CNN Center got blown away, and ~20 homes in Cabbagetown were destroyed or damaged.

I guess it's time for me to move outta this place.

Checking in. I am in Smyrna, I have only ridden in the area on the SCT but I believe that soon I am going to start looking for more routes in the area through Forest Hills and what not to get some more on road experience. I am also considering doing the Atlanta Cycling group rides once I can get off work before 9pm everynight. Has anyone ever done these rides?
Also, on June 1st I am doing the West Georgia 100 in Carrolton, has any here ever done this ride? It will be my first cycling event, but I actually can't find too much information about it on BF from people that have done it before.

check atlbike.org, they often have impromptu silver comet rides. All sorts of different paces and lengths. I'm sure you can find someone there who's up for a ride.

My group did it last year and enjoyed it. I enjoyed it until folks in front of me crashed at mile 23 and took me down. Bike was fine, ribs not so good. But, honestly, the emergency crews were there in no time, and while I took a sag car, my bike got to ride in one of the ambulances that were with the ride. Great support, I thought.

I would ride with you on the SCT if you would like. 20-30 miles is my average ride out there, I need to get better at riding in a group. I am actually going to be going out from Mavell Rd tonight at about 6 for a 20 mile easy ride with the better half.

Anybody here do the ride that starts at the Mellow Mushroom in downtown Decatur? I'd like to try it tonight and I want to gauge how hard they ride.

thx!
