Anyone get in a ride in this glorious weather today? This is the kind of day you just want to keep around forever! I just kept doing loops and loops, trying to forget that I should have been home working. It was just too nice out to go home.

How did the Critical Mess go? I guess I should check the FM board to see if DV8 took pics....

The past couple of days have been spring-like weather. You know it's just a tease. Next week it will probably snow, then it will flip and be like a Florida summer on Christmas. Gotta love Atlanta and the schitzoid weather!

Good to see this thread thriving. There are many, many more of us lurking out there, so soon we will let the world know that GA is not just a backwater country town. See you guys around, stay safe!

Saturday, I rode the metric century up in Dawsonville - part of the Mountain Moonshine festival. The bikers were the first float in the parade. So we got to stream down main street Dawsonville is front of the teaming throngs of spectators. I closed my eyes to imainge my self entering Paris at the en of the tour an hit the biker in front of me ... Not really but.

Dawsonville's finest motorcycle cop then proceed to lead us on some route different from the one laid out by the ride organizers. As a result we missed the first break stop at 17 miles and ended up going about 36 miles to the first stop.

It was a fun day of riding in the through the foothills of Georgia's mountains.

You know, I put my camera in the truck when I left home. Then when it was time to leave for the ride I looked everywhere for it and couldn't find it. I decided I must have left it at home. Upon my return it was right there in the truck in plain view - no idea how I managed to not see it.

GTcommuter turned me onto this camera last spring. Great little camera and great pics. You'll never be without it. Slides right into your jersery pocket. Then you won't have some lame excuse for not having pics.

In case anyone wants to do around 50 miles tomorrow and has the day off, I'm going with another guy on atlbike.org on the "power plant" ride that starts at the coots lake trailhead at 1PM tomorrow.

http://www.atlbike.org/modules.php?o...ewtopic&t=1810

I know it's super short notice, but can't hurt to ask

That's a great route. Had a run-in with a pooch at one of the farms right near the power plant - he chased, but he stayed away from my wheels. Have fun!

Sounds cool, but I think I'm going on the FasterMoustache Coffee ride tonight.

Who ordered the great weather? What a lovely day!

PW, you weren't joking! That ride is phenomenal. Although it's about 1 1/4 hours from Atlanta, it's worth it. The part of the ride around the powerplant is surreal. It's so massive it looks like something out of a movie. Plus the weather was ridiculous.

You're right about the dogs, had a couple of run ins. Only one close call, I could tell it was sizing up my ankle, but luckily it thought better of it. Had to sprint to outrun a couple of older dogs that thankfully couldn't keep up.

I always like knowing about dogs ahead of time - keeps me on my toes. The time I did that loop, it was really foggy, and the towers rising out of the fog were quite eerie.

y'all are too fast for me... and, some other friends are doing a longer ride instead, and I love going for the miles. You-know-who knows about it. Either way, I'll still be struggling to hang onto the group, but we're aiming for closer to 80 miles. Next time, though. That area is my fav.

It was fun riding and chatting with her on the Melton's ride - I hope she keeps coming out for that. I plan to keep doing it urban-assault style on the mtb. It's just more fun when you don't have to worry about stuff.

Sorry for the late response, but the route is so twisty-turny that you could probably pick it up someplace in the middle to meet the group. I've only done it twice, so I'm not sure how close to 6:30 they actually roll.

Hey everyone, I'll be riding the Atlanta Preservation Center's intown history and architecture ride on Sunday if anyone wants to join me. It's a slow paced tour with informational stops along the way, but it's one of my favorite topics -- urban exploration and history. Meets in the Grant Park eastern parking lot adjacent to Boulevard at 10am and is aobut 10 miles in 3 hours with stops.

This counts as the second meeting of the Intown Touring Club. PM me for more details about the new touring/exploration club.

I think this is the cue sheet for it. The route is very well marked. It's got a P> at all the turns. There are also T>'s and C>'s for other rides that you'll see on the same route. Just keep following the P's

edit: doh! I'm too slow!
