Looking for a 30-45 mile faster group ride Sat AM

I will be in Atlanta this weekend. I will be doing stuff all day Friday and not home until pretty late. I want to get in a good ride Saturday AM. I checked the Atlanta listings (Sadlebred and bikesbl). There were a few options that I saw that might fit, but list things like 18-21 mph, which depending on the route, people who actually pull, and whether they avg 18 or 21, leaves allot to the imagination. Hopefully someone here has some more concrete info.

    1) I need to stay in town for time constraints (Bhead, midtown, Vinings, etc)
    2) Looking for a good group of riders
    3) 30-45 mile max for time constraints
    4) Earlier the better in the AM
    5) 20 mph on rolling terrain max (I may be pretty tired and I dont want to get dropped)

Basically, I am looking for a pretty fast B+/A- group ride. I want to avoid racer training rides, due to the sprints.

Thanks, I know this is specific, but maybe I will get lucky. Otherwise, I will probably just get up early and hit the SCT.

***Note: Sorry, I forgot to put Atlanta in the title. It is early.

Be sure you bring your arm and leg warmers. The morning lows will be in the high 30s and the afternoon highs will only be in the low 60s.
What happened to the warm spring weather we've been having?

Also check this thread for ride info.

Thanks for the input. I will probably hit the Bike Link, Six Flags, or Free Flight marietta ride.

    I'll take a 90F day over a 40F day anytime.

Well if you're going to go outside the perimeter, I'd suggest looking into the Webb Bridge ride. They have an A and a B, but the B is more like an B+/A- like you are describing. It's usually a big group, but who knows with the cold weather...

Thanks. I have never seen that ride before. Since it is going to be so cold, I think that i am going to do the shorter 9 am ride on Pharr. 50 miles when it is in the 30s is not my cup of tea. Stupid weather.

Well, I decided that since it was so cold, I would definitely do the Bicycle Link ride at 9AM. So, at 9AM on the dot, one other rider shows up, plus the shop ride leader. It was a very leasurely pace as we started out. After about 3 miles, I start to hear a little bit of clicking, as we are spinning around. I kind of figured that there was a cold bearing or some metal contraction that was causing it, as it was still barely 30 deg when we started. It got a little bit worse over the next mile, and I think to myself....I hope that it doesnt get any worse; well.....

I stand to casually climb up a small hill on W Conway and my chain blows apart (4.4 miles out). I was so looking forward to a ride. I was so PO'ed at myself, because I have had a brand new chain sitting at the house for over a month waiting to be installed (over 2500 miles on the old one), but I was waiting until I did a full drive train overhaul to do it.

So I told the other 2 guys to keep going and I would just call for a pickup. I could have taken out the bad link and made it back, but we were only a few miles from my house, so I just called in the SAG wagon. So I went to Performance and got a new chain and installed it around 3, but I couldnt get in another ride. I probably wont have time tomorrow, so I got in a whopping 4 miles this weekend.

The good news is that I didnt fall off when the chain blew, it didnt take out the rear mech, or do any real damage to the bike. It took off a little clear coat on the seat stay, but the damage was all cosmetic. For what could have happened, it was a pretty fortunate situation for me, and I said my thanks for that.

So the moral of the story is do your preventive maintenance.
