DC Area- anyone doing the Swedish Embassy ride Sat 3/1?

    http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/o...vent_KEY=35942

14/28/56 miles from the embassy (near the Gtown waterfront) up into MD. Little gathering afterwards w/ blueberry soup, apparently a Swedish specialty.

I've been in DC for 6 years now and this will only be my 2nd embassy event (been to the Australian one a buncha times) so I better get a move on if I want to party at all of them.

I'm rolling down there solo (my buddies don't ride in winter), so let me know if you'll be there. I'll be on a brown Kona Jake w/ fenders, white helmet, probably blue jacket.

    Wish I had!

Where'd you hear about these rides?
you can value democracy and at the same time think the people are stupid and need the government to tell them what they should hear or what to think...Voters are manipulable subjects, kinda like lab rats...You can respect people and understand that they're contemptible. There's no mishap of logic there...Authoritarian governments exist for the people too.

I wussed out and did a W&OD ride later in the day (to give temps time to come up a bit). How was it? It sounded interesting, but I wasn't jazzed on the idea of driving into DC from Manassas.

It was ok. I only live a few miles from the start, so it was an easy ride down there.
Nice route up past Great Falls, into Potomac and north, then back down thru Beach drive.
The group really thinned out and separated. I thought I was hanging on to the back of a roughly 50 person group on the long ride, but people ahead of me musta missed a turn because I was one of the first 10 or so to the food stop at the outermost point. The group kept splintering and I rolled back into the embassy with maybe 5 or 6 others.
Weather was nice, though a bit chilly. Rode to work today and felt way better than I thought I would.
The blueberry soup was good- like pie w/ no crust.

Definitely keep an eye on sites like waba.org for interesting events in the future.
