31mi easy recovery ride.
31mi easy recovery ride.
X post from mountain biking...Yes we rode today and dusty dry has given over to wet tacky soil and slick roots and rocks.
A long climb up clawhammer found us in off and on rain. As we got closer to the top of the mountain we were blanketed in a thick, misty fog that gave a strange "Lord of the Rings" feel to everything. This was the best ride of the summer for me. There's nothing like a good long decent of the wet gnar.......
The Black Mountain parking lot found us unloading in a steady light rain......
A stop on the way up to hit the "campground drop"......
Some rainy day images.......
Black Mountain trail decending out of the fog.....
Riding on black.....
Ahhhhh, Pisgah mud.....
No riding today. I was "persuaded" to work a rest stop at the Share the Road century. I had planned on riding the 40 or 50 mile option.
I worked the first stop (21.3 miles from start) for everyone doing 40, 50, 62, 70, or 100 miles. It was also the last stop on the return trip (21.3 miles to the finish). All distances were basically an out and back route.
Saw lots of cyclists that I knew. A few were BF members.
The day was overcast with lots of wind. It tried to sprinkle a few times but stayed dry.
Yes. Yes, I did! A fast, (for me!) 30 miles on a local loop this morning, and a metric century on the tandem yesterday. Winds are starting to taper off after Gustov, but they ain't gone yet! :)
Yes, indeed I did. 21.5 miles on the East Orlando-Blanchard Park path. Sort of mild headwind going out and managed a respectable 16 mph. I like to start at about 7:30 AM as the heat and humidity really picks up around 10. I have been doing this course at least once a day since June and feel a whole lot better! Keep on riding.
9/2: 31miles with the local Hammer guys. first ride of 19+avg in a long time. :)
went up on the natchez trace today after work... did the usual 28 mile route except I started at the entrance gate rather than the first parking lot, so that added about a mile of climbing before I got to my usual starting area... so I figure around 30 miles total. Took my mountain bike with it's skinny tires on it... wore my new biking shoes w/ the toe clips (cleat plates were mia from shoes, some should be on the way...) effort-wise, it was much better w/ the new shoes.. (they're about 80% rigid... very stiff but some flex) comfort-wise, they not as nice as my sneakers (obviously) On the way back I met up with a fellow named Stephen, and I hung with him and had a nice chat. He had parked further in than I had, and after that parking lot the last 3 miles or so was pretty dark, it was neat riding when it was so dark out... I should hit up one of the 'trace full moon rides next time I get a chance. Really nice ride overall... weather was perfect.
Yes. First ride after getting KO'ed by the stomach flu on Sunday/Monday. Not at 100%, but it felt good to be on the bike again after a long (3 day) hiatus.
And the hits, (Hi Intensity Tropical Storms! :D), just keep on coming! Today was a 30 mile out and back fighting a 25mph headwind thanks to TS Hanna! Crawled out, but what the hey, I got to FLY back!
easy, conversational pace with Hammer Ride Leader on a 6mi loop. 3 laps with him and another guy, then another lap with 2nd guy...24mi (yesterday).
today - rest day.
Yes. Today I didn't have a lot of time to ride, so I decided to make it intense, and hit every steep hill around here. I also used my old Peugeot steel framed two chain-ring bike, with the bar end friction shifters. I was out for a bit less than an hour, and feel like I've ridden across state. Who needs interval training when you have Atlanta hills?
Yes we rode again today......
the climbing was pure hell....
Got in two rides today for a total of 28.75 miles.
PS: Nevermind, I found it on googe maps... I don't know how I rode past the Alafaya/Locanotosa intersection (going on Alafaya's bike lane) and not notice it. I will use it in today's ride (I hope it doesn't rain).
11 miles today at 13mph. Could have been longer but still recoving from my crash of last sunday.
Again, in group rides... Stay away from anyone wearing earbuds. They can't hear you coming even if you yell at them.
Got a nice easy 15 mile trail ride in DuPont State Forest today. Just trying to work off the aches and pains of a day of downhill/freeridng.Logride to faceplant sucks, thank god for full face helmets. It was a little hot but a nice ride.
Rode the 30 mile St. Paul Classic ride today. Got rained on for the last couple of miles.
Yesterday we did the 63 mile Jesse James Tour in Northifield, MN. Great ride.
yup, mtb - fast paced 24 miles up on the trace, ended a bit past dusk like last time. I saw two powered para gliders and some folks that had a telescope set up that was about the size of a 55 gallon drum. (moon was out)
Don't want to hijack this thread into a discussion thread, but .....
Not sure if I would recognize him again, but my wife might.
Yep. Extended my morning commute to about twenty miles by riding into downtown (where I work) riding back out to Decatur, and back into downtown. I do that about two or three times a week with a neighbor (both of us are conditioning ourselves for cycling events).
Home was my usual four mile commute (I was planning on extending it, but it's rainy today).
18 miles of wet swoopy trails in DuPont State Forest in a light rain.Good time.
12 miles around the neighborhood this afternoon. Lots of stops and turns and lots of getting used to the Look pedals. Lots of fun though even though I'm still quite sore from my Labor Day spill.
:) :) :)
Haven't ridden in weeks. Horrible.
