Yes, both Saturday and Sunday. 21 miles on Saturday on the Withlachochee from Central Ridge to Inverness, downtown Inverness for ice cream and back. Hubby ended up buying a used road bike at the bike shop next to the trail in Inverness to add to his collection.
Sunday, mountain bikes out at the Ocklawaha Prairie Restoration area.

We rode about 10 miles or so on the dike. Saw a small bobcat that took off when he saw us. Beautiful area.

Nope. but i was able to tow my son in the Burley trailer down to the park and back yesterday. Getting there is an easy 5 miles with about 4 miles of down hill. Getting back is the hard part.

Took a 2 mile mini ride this morning with my friend. A few weeks ago I bought her a 3 wheel 3 speed bike for her birthday. It has an internal hub on the back, its pretty cool. Its not new or anything like that, I'm guessing made in the mid 90's. It is in really nice shape (does need tires though). She has been listening to me tell her about all my rides for years now. Loves watching bike racing on tv. A few months back she started dieting and losing weight and doing great. She is feeling better so had me start looking for a bike. She has rode for 5 days in a row. And today the 2 mile ride was her longest yet.

Later in the day I went to the trails with the mountain bike and rode 4 miles in the dirt/mud/grass/sand and 5 miles on the pavement. There is still a stretch of trail that is flooded that i cant get by yet. It has dried up a lot, but not quite enough. I think I spent 56 minutes on the bike.

Just a warning...the map on the website is a little misleading. Back in late January my husband and I decided to do the loop ( a little over 10 miles) around the River/canal. The map showed that it was on a dike and the pictures showed a shellrock road. It was for about the first 5 miles or so...after that it went to grass and really hard to ride through. I had a really hard time making it all the way around but we finally reached the final part where it turned into shell rock again. The east part is where the shellrock is and extends almost to the north end. It doesn't start again until you reach the very southern part of the trail that turns north.Just wanted to give you a heads up in case you decide to go.

Yes, actually yesterday and today. Yesterday only about 6 miles on the road bike after work. Road around the airport and got a glimpse of John Travolta's plane parked there. Today, I have no idea how many miles but we took the mountain bikes and went to Santos. I am still new to these single tracks so we did the same trail as last week. I felt pretty good so we continued on. Probably a bad idea....the next part we went to had more rocks and lots of hills and lots of closed end trails. Not my cup of tea...yet..but hopefully I will get used to it. I think overall we might have done about 7 miles.

Thanks for the heads up on the dike trail. I've been trying to go someplace different on the weekends. Not sure where I will end up this coming weekend. I guess depends on the weather.

I have never been to Santos, often thought about it though. Yeah some of the off road trails/log roads are pretty tough that's for sure. We may not have any mountains but when you get stuck riding in sand for 2 or 3 miles it seems like a mountain .... LOL Or my fav... riding in wet squishy grass. The kind of grass that just sucks your tires in when you ride over it (I'm not a light weight so it sucks my tires in more than some others). I always tell people that don't ride much (or at all) that riding 5 miles on off road trails is like riding 10 on pavement.

A couple of questions about Santos. Are the trails crowded ? And what do you mean by a closed end trail? Is that a trail that doesn't loop?

    Thanks for the info ....

Sorta rode Wed the 7th. I went and provided moron..... errrrr moral support for my friend that is riding the 3 wheel bike. While she did her mile and a half I was sprinting (well sprinting for me ) back and forth down the road. I think I rode about 4 miles just doing that..

I really need to get my other bike back together for the post office runs. Short ride is better than no ride, didn't really have time for a longer ride before it got dark...

Well, I accompanied a mate of mine from our home suburb of Fairfield, through to Parramatta and then North Parramatta to try and find some off circular light fitting. Turned out to be quite a good little adventure.

I've been riding nearly everyday since my last post, getting in from around 200-300 miles a week (when I get in a long sunday). I'm getting faster and stronger all the time. I've done 2 races so far this year and am searching for more.

Sunday before Easter we did a 75-80 miler from Orange Park south past Camp Blanding to Keystone and back. I'd left the house before 0800 and got back before 1200. Yes thats 4 hours @ 20 mph, and no I'm not braggin'. Although, I'm damned proud that I was able to hang on, for the most part.

I was hoping to go to Cocoa to do the Cross Florida Ride, but looks like that's gonna fall through. If anyone would consider that ride, I would highly recommend it. I did it about 10-12 years ago, and I had a great time. 175 miles in like 12 hours, average speed around 17 mph. And you can too.

Congrats on the ride from OP to Camp Blanding. 20 MPR is pretty awsome. and to bad you will not be able to do the cross FL ride. I would love to do it but I don't think I can keep that average MPH.

I averaged 20mph ONE TIME... From Crescent Beach to Palatka on my mountain bike with tires with no tread in the center and tread on the outside (I forget what you call them). 28 mile ride I think... That was with a BIG tail wind.... LOL ..

I've only been on the Santos trails 3 times and it's been late in the day after work. My husband has been riding them for years and says the weekends are fairly crowded especially around the main trail head over by the Sheriff station. He took me over to the trailhead at SR 475 that they call the Land Bridge Trailhead and we rode east towards the main one. I'm really new at this and get real nervous when I see other riders coming my way so I normally stop and get out of their way.
I don't know that I used the right terminolgy "closed end" but it is single track trails that are very narrow and have bushes/trees right next to the trail. Makes me feel a little claustraphobic and nervous. I only rode on the yellow trails and even some of them were very scary to me. My husband says they become less so the more I ride. I think he's right as the 3rd time I went back I felt more confident.

I agree with you...when you are riding on sand 5 miles feels like 10 paved ones. When we did the 10 miles loop at the Preserve that I mentioned, I was wondering if I would ever make it back. I'm no spring chicken and still working to get rid of more weight. (I've lost a little over 100 pounds in the last 2.5 years and still have about 40 to go.)
You said you like to go different places on the weekend and that's what we like to do as well. In the year I've been riding we've managed to ride most of the paved trails in north/central FL. I am anxious for tax season to be over so I can go back to only working 3 days a week.
Have fun on your ride this weekend.

I too am NO spring chicken, or summer one either lol. Congrats on the weight loss.... that's awesome. If you take a look at the weight loss thread (I forget someplace here on the forums) from about 5 years ago you you will see a user by the name of Otherland... I think he got down to 195 at one point, and kept his weight at about 205 for about 3 years. Well sadly he gained a bunch back over the last couple of years. Life got in the way of his riding & he started eating bad again. Anyway... he is trying to get back on the bike more.

I don't know the right term either but I do know what you mean about trails like that. There is a section of trail like that, that I do ride (and will ride again if it ever dries up enough for me to get back to it). This section has twists and turns and trees on both sides. It also has bare roots from a lot of these trees. Its at those times that make me wonder why I'm riding clipped in... LOL If all the roots were perpendicular to the trail it might not be quite so bad... I hit one of them at the wrong angle one day and ... down I went before I could get un-clipped. Didn't get hurt rode on... Got out of that part of the woods .. And realized I had lost my water bottle. So had to ride back over the roots to get the bottle and then ride back again... LOL

Had some unexpected company show up for the weekend so I most likely wont get out to someplace new this weekend. I hope to get a ride in someplace though. I'll most likely try the trail that's near me again.... Maybe the washed out spot will have dried out enough for me to get by?? http://www.floridaswater.com/recreationguide/ricecreek/ ... I might drive over to the SR100 side and ride from there. I usually ride from the SR20 side. I haven't been able to get to the other side yet because part of the trail is just too muddy and wet. I would say 95% of the people that live near here have NO clue there is a 1100 foot boardwalk in the middle of the swamp..

As for today (yesterday now.... Friday)... Got out for a ride with the 16yr old friend and his uncle (part of the company that showed up). Went to the G.ville Hawthorne trail started at the Hawthorne end. Took the mountain bikes... The 16yr old has never ridden as fast as he did today over the distance we rode. I think he had to show off for his uncle. I told him afterwords that next time he punks out on me I will remind him of the ride with his uncle..... NO EXCUSES now.... hahah. We went about 6 miles down the trail and then turned off on one of the side unpaved trails. Ended up on SR20 and rode that back to Hawthorne to the trail head. I think we rode almost 15 miles... Was a fun ride with company this time. Perfect weather and temp!!!!

28.5 miles, but I seem to have found the end of the road at one point:

I have never seen this sign before.
    Bikes use brakes to stop.

If your bike has breaks, don't ride it.

Yes, Saturday the 10th. Rode the mountain bikes out at the Pruitt Trailhead off 484. Road all the way to SR 200. I think we've figured out it's a little over 12 miles. Some sandy parts but overall a great ride. 3 deer sightings but luckily no Hogzillas. We did see several traps though.

Well I had plans for a ride this past weekend. But then I ate something Fri evening that I think gave me food poisoning. Sat felt really bad, Sun just felt week. But today felt good and went for a ride. Took the mountain bike to the Rice Creek trail, got dropped off on the north side off of SR100. Attempted to ride some of the hiking trails on that side. I say attempted because I had to do quite a bit of walking, toooo many bare roots sticking up. I'm still not that confident about going over some of them, especially when they aren't perpendicular to the trail. Pretty cool trails though with lots of little wooden bridges over small streams & wet areas. I got to the 1100 ft boardwalk where you pretty much have to stand the bike on the back wheel and walk it across. It was then I realized I forgot some insect spray. The mosquitoes were pretty bad over the swampy water. Managed to make it to the other side (SR20) the areas of the trail that were flooded were just really muddy now. I rode/walked about 7 miles on the trails and another 3 miles to where I got picked up (was getting dark). About an hour and 40 minutes riding/walking. Great weather had fun!!!!!!!
