Haven't ridden since last week. Rode south to County Line road. Stopped at SR50 for water on the way north. Chatted briefly with a young couple from Germany who are touring Florida. Said they started today from Tarpon Springs and are riding to Crystal River. Hope they don't have problems on US19.
I did a total of 40.9 miles.

Rode the Litespeed south to Anderson Snow park. Felt tired all the way there. I kept thinking I'd turn around at SR50 but kept going. The ride north was harder than usual. Am I "over-training" even though I'm not training?
Rode 37.6 miles.

The B&B opens up again on Sunday. Our yoga teacher and a friend are coming to visit for a few days so no riding for the next few days. I'll be busy tomorrow and Sunday morning getting things ship-shape.

Finally! Two weeks off due to a #$%^&* cold or flu bug! But today I got the daughter out on the Trek tandem. She's started to get into riding a little since we've moved up here to Pasco county. `Bout time! She's 18 and in college now, but she's had a road bike since she was 13! Ahh, well.

Anyway, north to Anderson Snow park and back. Only 21 miles, but she's a new tandem rider and I'm still a little under the weather. Way better than no ride at all, though!

Our company went to do their own thing today so my wife did her walk and I headed over to the Suncoast Trail. Kept my eye on the rain on MyRadar app on my iPhone. Decided to turn around after stopping at SR50. Only did 24.9 miles.

Had a short discussion with another touring couple from Europe (they sounded Scandinavian) at the SR50 trailhead. They said they started in Canada and were going to Key West and then back to Orlando where they would catch a plane to head back home.
Since this is the second touring couple I've met in the past week, I guess this is the time of year when they come to Florida.

Well, the weather report showed negative temps for some of the northern plains states last night, so if you kept going north from there ..... Yep. Good time to tour Florida!

Yesterday - The Withlacoochee from Ridge Manor (SR50) North to the Floral City gazebo and back. What an absolutely perfect day for a ride, with low humidity, a high temp of 70 ish, and winter/spring sunshine all the way. On days like these, I can actually enjoy living in Florida.

I rode out to meet up with a young couple on tour. We were hosting them (Warmshowers.org) for the evening,
and I wanted to guide them to our house.
So I climbed onto my huge Cannondale ST and set out heading south, not knowing how far I'd have to go to find them.
At 10.6 miles out I spotted them heading north on SR19 north of Altoona.
After exchanging greetings, we set off back north. "Twas a slow go as they were fully loaded and, even after 3 weeks on tour,
they had "not found their cycling legs yet." But, we made it.
So, 21.25 miles on the day for me. 28 for them.

Rode Monday and Tuesday.... Monday rode mountain bike with a friend in Rice Creek & over in Etoniah Creek State forest. Not sure how many miles but a bit over 2hrs riding time. On Tuesday I rode mountain bike with another friend in Dunns Creek water management area, we rode for about an hour there. And then later in the day went on a short road ride with friends about 45 minutes on the bike. Both days very windy ... while in the woods didn't much matter but the short ride on the road was a different story...

Finally got out today. Took the Litespeed for a nice ride on the Suncoast Trail.
Saw something I've never seen before -- female prisoners cleaning up at the SR50 trailhead. I've seen male prisoners around here and when we lived in Atlanta.
Rode south to County Line Rd and then turned around to head north.
Did a total of 40.9 miles.

Meant to get out yesterday, but it didn't happen until today. Just a piddlin' 20 miler on the Suncoast, but at least I managed to get out! Beautiful day, but I was really feeling the lousy shape I'm in!

It was a gorgeous day so I had to get out. After I'd gone a few miles on the Suncoast I realized just how hard I rode on Thursday.
Decided to turn around at Spring Hill Dr.
Did a total of 34.6 miles.

[edit]
I forget to mention I wore my new Uvex helmet today. I used to think Laser helmets were comfortable, but wow.
I'd give the Laser an 8.5 to 9.0 tops.
The Uvex gets an easy 9.8.
[/edit]

Great ride on Saturday except for the 2 miles or so in heavy smoke resulting from a "control burn". So much for the controlled part. From Crews Lake park to Pine Island loop - 54 miles. Great turnout - 40 plus riders and several speed groups to choose from.

Wow! Crews Lake Park is just down the road from us. What ride was this/is it a regular ride/what route did you take to Pine Island? Inquiring minds want to know!!

TIA,
Bill

Bill, this was a combined group ride with Grupetto and Chain Gang. I frequently ride with both groups. Both groups can be found through meetup.com and they post upcoming rides in the area. There's always Sat/Sun rides with either group and often weekday rides. Grupetto is a much bigger group and a wider variety of riders, with many C riders. You can request to join if interested.

The ride started at Crews Lake park, to Peace/Denton, right on Little rd, north on 19, left on Aripeka rd, left on Shoal rd, left on Cortez, north on Pine Island rd. On the return we came back on Cortez across 19, then to Elgin/Powell to the Suncoast, then south to Crawley, and back to Crews Lake. Its a great route, very scenic. The best part is from Aripeka rd north.

Yup. 36.5 miler. Went looking for a couple who are touring on a tandem.
But, got too late a start due to foggy conditions and I didn't meet then where I thought they would be.
Nice ride on the touring bike, tho.

After too many doctor appts (for my wife) and our semi-annual trip to the dentist I finally had a day to myself.
Headed south on the Suncoast Trail. The wind seemed worse than usual today so turned around at Spring Hill Dr.
Stopped at Extreme Bicycles on the way back and talked with "Z" about bike computers and floor pumps.
I dropped my 2 month old Sigma BC1909 on the kitchen counter (granite of course ) and cracked some of the plastic trim that holds the buttons in place so had no computer for today's ride.
For some reason the tailwind I was hoping for on the ride north went away so .....

I did the Cycle for Education ride in Chiefland with my grandson today. This was his first "long" ride. We rode from Chiefland to the bridge over the Suwannee River. At that point he said he was ready to turn around.
He made sure we stopped at the three rest stops we passed. :-) He's a growing boy (13 y/o).
I broke my computer last week and my CycleMeter app for my iPhone wasn't working (poor reception) so I have to estimate the distance. I think it was ~8 miles to the bride so the total ride was 16 miles. The longest he's ever ridden.

Stopping to rest between stop #2 and #3.

Finally got to the bridge. Whew. Then he said it was time to head back.
