Ok boy and girls, I just ordered a Selle Anatomica Titanico X in WaterShed graphite with gun metal rivets for the Felt. After it arrives both bikes will be ready for long comfortable rides. I hope I'm ready.

Good ride with Carl, Jim T, Bob and Ralph to the horse farms today. Overall average was 13.7 mph and from PB to PB was 14.9 mph for 21 miles. Temps were in the mid 50s with winds gusting to 24 mph. It looked like rain for the entire ride but we stayed dry the entire way.

Very cold when I left home this morning (44 degrees) but it warmed up fast and felt great at the 9:30 start. Had planned to do the 31 mile ride but the route was much tougher than expected. I managed to ride hospital hill, but Citrus Tower Hill got me and my legs were cooked. At the Citrus Hill SAG stop I had to shed about 3 layers of clothing as I was overheating. The bike fest draws a big crowd and provides some good riding routes and very fast racing. All of the supplier booths are great as well. This was really a first class ride with a great lunch for all riders after the ride. John B, Richard, and Bill did the 62 mile ride, gotta hand it to those young studs. I topped out at 39.9 mph on one decent, and when you are 73 years old you start to think about how much this will hurt if you crash, assuming of course that you survive.

Did a nice 30 miles today. Only been riding a couple weeks so I was excited to work up my distance. Just under 2 hours (15.4mph avg). I love the Withlacoochee Trail!

Did the first 15 in 59 mins, and the second 15 in 58 mins. I was chasing a guy on the way back, who was on a nice Trek. He was wayyy faster than me! Plus I'm pretty sure he was twice my age.

Made a few adjustments to the saddle height and tilt. Rode yesterday from Hernando south to just north of Istachatta and back (36.2 miles). VERY comfortable after the adjustments.

30 mile ride with Natalie and John south of CR464 riding back roads and some heavy traffic roads between I-75 and The Villages. I'd ride some of the country roads again, but find a parking area off the main roads.

There were a few cars that passed way too close, but the most frightening incident was when Natalie and I were going to stop at an intersection and wait for John who had fallen behind. As we were approaching the intersection, a car came roaring down the road at a high rate of speed, hit his brakes, fishtailed, got control back and turned onto the road we were riding. He couldn't make the corner, so drove onto the grass on the far side of the stop sign - hit the stop and swung back onto the road we were on. By then, we'd hit the ditch and watched him race on down the road. I'd guess he was running from the police, but we never saw a cop car.

To add to our 'adventure', John didn't show up so we were worried this guy might have hit him, so we started riding back down the road. About a mile down, we found John on the side of the road with a flat tire. Very relieved he was OK. That's probably the closest call I've had in all the years of cycling. One minute more, we would have been off our bikes, standing at the stop sign waiting for John. The cycling gods were with us today.

I put the new saddle (second Selle Anatomica) on the Litespeed and went to the Hernando trailhead. When I took the front wheel out it was FLAT. Don't know what happened cause I aired up the tires before I loaded the bike in the car. Anyway, put the wheel in the car and drove home (~10 minutes) and got the Felt.
Got to the trail around noon. Rode north and ran into a gut from Slovakia with a flat tire. Seems that somehow the valve stem pulled out of the tube (presta) so there was no way the tube would hold air. Luckily he got a ride from a friend while we were talking.
So I continued north. Got to the north end and then headed back to the car. For some reason I felt tired. Must have something to do with the time change. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
Did a paltry 22 miles.

Tomorrow I'll tackle the flat and do some minor work on the Felt drive train.

Got in a nice 41 mile ride this morning with Jim, Bob and Maureen. Had coffee and bagels at Panera bread with Ralph and Sandy and the group. Beautiful weather cool and a light wind. I hope to get in a sort ride Friday then a 70 mile at The Tour de Cure ride Sunday.

Getting ready for the Clean Air Ride. Rode from Hernando to a little south of Edgewater Ave (Nobleton area) and back. Total of 45 comfortable miles.

Kind of windy today but too beautiful to not ride so headed north from Hernando. Had a nice tailwind to push me along.
Heading South was another story. I considered riding to Inverness of Floral City but the wind got the better of me and I wimped out when I got back to Hernando. Only did 22 miles.

Great ride until we hit the 50 mile mark and had to fight winds with 30 mph gusts. We averaged 15.4 mph for the first 50 miles then the pain started. This was one of the best organized rides that I have done. Our club was the number one cycling club with over $12,000 raised for TdC.
It was a picture perfect day with over 1,000 riders doing various distances. The food was outstanding and all of the people that volunteered to make this a successful event were just great. The route was well marked and easy to navigate.

Did 53 miles tonight. Got on the Withlacoochee near the Inverness Trailhead from my house, and went south until I got to the Ridge Manor Trailhead, and back. Slow ride, 3 hrs 34 minutes (15 mph avg). My longest ride by 23 miles. Going to give the Century a shot Sat at the Clean Air Ride.

Super weather this morning with temps in the low 60s at the start. Met Jim T at the trailhead and picked up Ralph at Panera Bread. After coffee and bagels we headed out International to Wayside then out to the horse farms. On the segment of PB and back to PPB (21 mile) we averaged 15.2 mph, could have been faster but we just rode a social pace in the middle, talking about Ralph's new bike. The weather was great with partly cloudy skies and a light NE wind.

Did my last ride today before the Clean Air Ride. Rode from Hernando to Croom Rd. and back. Rode 49.8 miles.
When I got home I found 2 broken strands on my new (less than 2 months old) rear shifter cable. Guess I'll be checking that out tomorrow -- after I get back from my first visit with my new cardiologist. I hope he's better than the one I went to at Citrus Cardiology last year cause its a long drive to Atlanta to see my old cardiologist.

Another beautiful day for a ride, high 50s at the start and mid 70s at the finish and a light wind out of the NE. Met Jim T at the trailhead and picked up Ralph on the way. Coffee and bagels at Panera Bread then out to Fox Spur. The 20 mile segment between PB and PB we averaged 15.9 mph. Overall speed was 13.3 mph, not the greatest but we are not going to get much faster riding the trail, to many walkers and baby carriages.

Another great day to ride, perfect weather. Started out solo, but ran into Bob A along the trail, then Ralph and Sandy came by and we all stopped at Panera Bread for the usual. After PB Bob and I rode on alone to the horse farms then out to the Markham trail head. Our ride from PB to PB was 17 miles and we averaged 15.8 mph with half of the ride into some pretty good head wind with gusts up to 15 mph.

The day started out a bit cloudy but ended nice and sunny and warm.
Rode in the Clean Air Ride. Did a whopping 52 miles.

Met Rich at the trailhead at 8:00 am and picked up Ralph just before Mandarin. Todays ride plan was the Swamp House Grill ride, and it was a good one. While my overall average was only 13.6 mph our segment from PB to the SWG (13.5 miles) was 15.4 mph going out and 15.8 mph on the ride back. I think the extra speed on the return trip can be attributed to the new gold valve stem caps (thanks Rich). The weather was in the mid 70s for most of the ride and wind was not much of a factor.

Good ride this morning with Ralph, Bob and Jim T. Did the usual thru Mandarin then a stop at Panera for coffee. After PB it was out to the horse farms then west to the trailhead. Our overall average was 13.2 mph with a 20 mile segment from PB and back to PB 15.1 mph.Great weather this morning, cloudy but comfortable. The wind was not much of a factor today.

Just a little cold at the start this morning, 51 degrees, when I met Jim T and Bob at the trail head. After coffee at PB we headed out to the horse farms with much nicer temps. The 20 mile ride from PB to the horse farms and back to PB we averaged 15.7 mph, the over all average was 13.5. The sky was clear and the sun was bright and the wind was light.

Beautiful Florida day with the temps in the high 50s at the start and high 70s at the end. Did the usual with Jim T, Ralph, Bob and Linda D this morning. It was so nice we sat on the patio for our morning coffee. We averaged 15.2 for the 20 mile PB to PB segment, with an overall average of 13.4 for the 40 mile ride.

Really great ride this morning, started at the trail head with Jared and Phil, then picked up Linda D along the way. We met Ralph and Sandy at PB for coffee then Linda and Jared and I rode out to the horse farms. On the way back Linda dropped off at her house, Jared dropped off at PB and I rode on into Lake Mary to see the new Sun Rail. I had hopes of taking the tour but the line was just to long and I didn't have any means to secure my bike, so the tour will have to wait. The weather was perfect for riding today Low to high 70 degrees and a light wind.

Happy Day! I rode my age today! 73 long, glorious miles. My friend, Natalie, was riding her age today with a group of us on the Withlacoochee Trail, and since I'm a bit older, when I got home, I finished up my ride. Jeff (jBerman) came flying by riding his LONG 200K (I think) ride today.
