Well i did my first metric in 15 yrs yesteday in Franklin TN, the Harpeth River Run. Really nice route, but it was really hot, but still finished in under 4 hrs w/ an average around 16 mph. Not bad for an old guy on a cruise, Got up this morning and spun another 25.

Rode 50 yesterday in the Cartersville Century ride. This was my very first group ride. I had a great time and will definitely be doing more group rides! I originally planned on only doing 30, but when I got to the first rest stop (the turnaround point for the 30) I decided it was too soon to head back, so I kept going. The most I've ever done before was 28 miles. I was really hurting towards the end, but I made it.

I felt very out of place on my Trek trail bike (with slicks) as just about everyone else was on a road bike of some kind. But no one treated me like I didn't belong. Everyone was very positive and very friendly. Some even said how amazed they were that I was doing this on a trail bike (one passing rider said I was "kicking butt" because she was having a hard time keeping up with me). I ended the day feeling pretty good, and totally convinced that I need a road bike!

So today I went and bought one.

Riding after work this evening. Probably still only clock 10 miles or so. Bringing someone that hasn't ridden in quite some time.

Three days of thunderstorms - no riding! Could we please have some sunshine here in the Sunshine State! If it doesn't stop raining soon, the grass will be up around my waist.

I just looked at the weather map and it looks like you are getting quite a bit of rain as I type this. We have not had any rain today but it looks as if it could start at any minute so I am just waiting for some kind of break in the clouds.

Finally a sunny day! I rode 20 miles this morning, then cut the lawn when I got home. Any chance we'll get a couple more of these for the weekend? Probably not!

Cut the lawn last night (before the only way would have been with a scythe) then got out this morning for 25 miles.

Got lost from the group on an intended 106 mi loop, no map, but I did find my way back to the car, so around 100. Hot but not too hot today. Only hit about 90F.

Starting to do 200 miles a week.
It is definitely helping with the weight loss and I am starting to feel more energetic.

25 miles yesterday (7/4) starting and ending in Ellijay, GA. We were vacationing in the area for the holiday weekend. I encountered one very tough (for me) climb named Roundtop Road, two groups of dogs that wanted to race me, and one really nice cyclist from Talking Rock who was out on his ride.

kjc, what is your usual pace? I see you do alot of miles (675 a month?) and was curious what kind of pace you keep for these miles.
