Bridge to Bridge
Anyone have some reliable information regarding the Bridge to Bridge ride from Lenoir to the top of Grandfather Mountain. It's usually in September, but the Caldwell County Chamber of Commerce web site seems not to have any information about this year's ride...Anyone know something? Have they cancelled the ride?

I am pretty sure that they will open registration on June 30th. They have some system like Mitchell, where you get a code if you rode last year. If you dont have a code then you wait a few weeks later to sign up. I think the limit is 800 and it always fills up but not nearly as fast as Mitchell.

bad news......the main attraction to this ride, the finish at the top of Grandfather Mtn., is not happening this year due to construction....it will finish in the meadow next to the Grandfather gate. This will probably reduce the number of participants.

That really blows , the last 2 miles makes the whole ride. Cant decide if I will sit it out or not . But it will still be challenging with out the finish on top. Kind of changes how you can manage your energy . Maybe go all out after the 181 climb.

OK, open to to previous non-participants A/O Noon today...I know it's not to the top, but I'm in. At least I'll get a look for next year!

Are you talking about the hills between Shears & Mooresville Rd. north of Johnston Dairy, or Davidson Rd behind River Run between those two roads? Was actually there doing hill repeats there (Davidson Rd.) tonight before I read your post

The road that goes to hwy 3 past river run . Great place to train for the hwy 181 section, the grade is similar but about 10 miles longer.

That would be the one I train on during the week...10-15 repeats on there will get your HR going. Used that with weekend climbing rides to train for AOMM as well...
