largo / Clearwater cyclists?

I'm going to be moving to Largo pretty soon and I was wondering who is in the area. I'm riding an older Panasonic DX2000 that will soon have a flipflop wheelset on it.

Anyone around here pleasure ride or commute? I'll be in the Indian Rocks area.

Luke

Hey, I live up in Palm Harbor and I'm in the process of getting back into cycling (road cycling). I used to do a lot of urban and mountain biking up in NY, but haven't really braved the roads down here yet (3 years). I'm kinda new to the site too, so I'm pretty out of the loop...just wanted to at least let you know that we exist in the area.

Alright, cool. I'm broken between Portland OR and Pinellas County FL. I've lived in the 727 already, my girlfriend is currently there. I know there are bikers in OR... and FL has the pinellas trail (which is pretty fun to ride). Just wanted to see how dead it was.

Well I don't get out nearly enough, so aside from the trail and the random small groups in full kit that I see around, I'm a bad source. A buddy of mine just moved to PDX and he loves the bike culture...makes me jealous since aside from the trail, there really isn't a solidly organized safe/popular place to bike. We need more trails so I can keep the car in the driveway

Well there is a decent biking community here. I ride the Pinellas Trail a fair amount and on the weekends I see a lot of groups out on their road bikes. It also hasn't been too hot to ride here either.

Hey Luke! Lots happening here, and St. Pete even has it's very own fixie shop, (66Fixed)

The St. Pete crowd has several hundred show up every weekend at the Northshore pool for 8 or so different groups paced all the way down to a 12mph group. At the other end the Suncoast club has about a hundred show up for its rides, and the C ride is strictly controlled at no more that 18mph.

Lots of rides and riders, there's bound to be one that fits your needs, and they even have an all-girl group in St. Pete for your girlfriend!

There really are several cycling groups in Pinellas County. Here is a large and popular one out of Palm Harbor https://www.suncoastcycling.com/index.html
