I have the chance to pick up a trek mountaintrack 820 for very little.$50.00. Is this a good deal?It is in almost new like condition. No rust not scratched. All that it needs is the cable replaced going to the back brake. The brake pads and holders are on the frame but the cable is cut just before it gets to the y.This will be my first trek. Also what year was this model put out? Any reply will be appreciated.
thanks for the reply. This bike has a8 digit set and on the other side 6 numbers.I cant make heads or tails of the link that you put up but I made a copy of it and will ponder on it till I figure it out. Again thanks a lot,I am going to buy the bike.We have a trek dealer about 50 miles from me so Ill get by the place and see if they can help me .The bike has a sticker on it saying it was bought from that very store.
I would buy any Trek in decent shape at that price. There is a very good vintage Trek site that gives all the history you could ever want on the brand. The 820 is one of their lower end bikes, but at $50, its a no brainer. I have several Treks right now, and have sold several more.
The 820 has been made for about 20 years, in various configurations.
