Assault on the Carolinas
Is anyone else riding this event on Saturday besides "Wolfpack"? It looks to be a nice season starter route with the highlight being the climb up Caesars Head. I've been watching the weather all week and, keeping my fingers crossed that the it cooperates on Saturday. It if doesn't, then I will ride it Sunday assuming decent weather. Just not a wet weather rider.

Hey Neal. I was planning to go over and ride but we're going to spend a few days with my daughter in Arizona this weekend. I actually climbed Caesars Head last weekend on a 98 miler I did from N Greenville College. I'm sure you've climbed it before but you get a little break at about the 4 mile mark of the 6 miles miles up. I always enjoyed the Brevard ride has it has some terrific descents on the way out before you get to Caesars Head. From just looking at the forecast it looks like the weather in Az is going to be a heck of a lot better than around here. We sure have not been very lucky on the weekends around here lately. I've reserved a bike out there and hope to get in a little riding myself.

Enjoy Arizona, I'm sure the weather there will beat the pants off what we have here. I have not ridden this AOTC route before so, I am determined to do it - either Sat or Sun. Surely one of these days will be dry. The Caesars Head climb will be the first time for me. Thanks for the heads up on the 4 mile respite. I'm sure it will be welcome .

Sat.weather looks tough, but Sun??? If you're looking for a partner, I might attempt to do it that day, or ride the 3 Mountain Madness route, need to train for AOMM. Hit me back if you're interested.

I'm not going to risk the ride tomorrow so, I've changed my motel reservation to Sat night. I plan on riding the route on Sunday and it would be great if you could join me. I am tentatively planning on starting around 9AM from the Brevard school - assuming the weather cooperates. If it hadn't been for the fact that I have not ridden this one, I would be open to the 3MM route. But I have good things about this route and would like to ride it. I will check the weather again in the morning and, assuming it looks good for Sunday I will email you.
