Group rides in Jacksonville, Fl Sunday, Monday and Tuesday

I'm looking for a ride on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday AM Speeds averaging 15-18mph (much faster than that and I'll need a map to find my way home alone)

Apparently the folks who ride in groups in Jacksonville don't post here just ride. I did find a ride that started at 8:30 Monday morning but I showed up late, I managed to get in 30 miles on the Jacksonville-Baldwin rail trail and met a few nice cyclists along the way. the area where my son lives has the roads under heavy construction and is not safe to drive let alone ride a bike If they ever finish it will probably be really nice.

Sorry late to the game on this one, Sunday rides: North Florida Bike club as Sunday morning rides.
Here is a link to the rides listed on their site. https://www.nfbc.us/Rides/AreaRides/t...6/Default.aspx

Monday: Bicycle Etc (Philips Highway store) has a 21 miler starts at 6 pm rides to the Acosta and you can do bridge loops, I do this one as a recovery from the weekend rides, nice group had about 25 last week. Open Road (Hendricks store) has a 35 miler on the Mandarin Lolipop loop starts at 6 to 6:30.

Tuesday: I personally have not ridden any, but check the NFBC site, they have some listed. What side of town are you on?

I was in town staying with my son who lives out in the "Whitehouse" area off Crystal Springs Rd. I found a group on the Jacksonville-Baldwin trail on Monday morning but I got lost and didn't get there til 9 am. Rode the trail out and back from the East end alone but OK. My wife is being treated at Mayo so I will be going back and forth. I will be looking for rides in the morning because I'm riding with the grandchildren in the afternoons when I'm there. They are just learning to ride and don't put quite as much pressure on me. I'll keep in touch and maybe we can ride together sometime. I'm old and slow but I'm down 30lbs in the last year and I'm slowly increasing my speed and distance.

Down here our club is pretty small (about 40 members) and if I'm lucky on the weekends the few B and C rides we have show up and I don't have to ride home alone. When I'm not so lucky, I hang with the fast guys as long as I can and celebrate holding on longer then before until they drop my ancient oversized behind. At least down here I know where I am and can find my way home. I'm a little anxious about Jacksonville and not knowing where to ride but I'm too dumb not to try

North Florida bike club is pretty good. You might want to check out
VeloBrew
We usually have rides on that side of town. Also there are a lot of
people riding at the beach, but I don't really know where to direct you
on that. If you are going to Mayo off of San Pablo Road the beach is
10 minutes east and the Mandrin rides are 20 minutes to the west (by car).

PM me if you need more info

Andy

Wow, Whitehouse to Mayo, do you pack a lunch for that ride, . Yea definitely. I live on the Southside over near St. Luke's but ride the trail quite often in the summer due to the tree coverage and keeping out of the heat if I have to ride later in the day. I unexpectly have my mornings open now, job went north for the summer, so next time your in town, look me up and we can take a ride at the JTB trail.
