Palm Beach Gardens, FL Riding Group for 30/40 Somethings

I'm looking to either start or join a non-racing / non-competitive road cycling group in the Palm Beach Gardens area with people in their 30s and 40s. Here's why:

- I'm sick of the cycling groups with guys that are ultra-competitive.

- I'm sick of the groups that leave at the crack of dawn - I've got young kids and a job as well. Sometimes it's easiest to get away after the morning breakfast / crazyness has subsided.

- I'm sick of the guys in their 50s and early 60s who have their buddies and don't want to give me the time of day.

- I'm sick of riding the same routes over and over and over (Jupiter Island, etc.) although there may not be much choice on that.

I ride at about a 16 to 18 mph pace and normally like to go out for 35 to 50 miles. I've been riding for 3 years. I can paceline but I find that to be really boring after a while if that's all we do. I am primarily interested in weekend rides.

If you're older than 30s/40s, that's fine - I'm not discriminating but I don't want to keep having similar experiences to those I have mentioned above.

If you're interested, contact me and we can try to make something happen.

Welcome Jonathan !
You must be talking about the rides
promoted by the two local shops that meet
at the park on A1A ?
Im a lowly commuter, and I would agree, the 'serious'
bike culture here isnt too friendly to non Lance-a-be's

Good luck, be safe !

DEAR JOHN I HEAR YOU ON THIS ONE! I AM NOT INTO ANY OF THAT CRAP. I RIDE BY MYSELF 95% OF THE TIME-SOMETIMES PICKING UP A CASUAL PACELINE. I HAVE BEEN RIDING FOR 12 YRS AND IAM 57YRS OLD. I RIDE ABOUT 3-4 TIMES A WEEK -LONGER RIDES ON WEEKENDS AROUND 30-60 MILES DEPENDING ON THE WEATHER AND HOW HOT IT IS-ESPECIALLY IN THE SUMMER. I DO LIVE IN THE PORT ST LUCIE AREA. I RIDE ON A1A ALOT- IHAVE GONE DOWN TO JUPITER ISLAND MANY TIMES BUT MAINLY RIDE IN MY AREA. DEPENDING ON WIND I WILL AVERAGE AROUND 16-20MPH. IF YOU WANT TO HOOK UP YOU CAN E-MAIL ME AT moscitrus@comcast.net or call me at 772-398-8025. HAPPY RIDING AND BE SAFE! DAVE
