    AL, Shoals Area?

I am going to be in Cherokee, AL for work for a couple of days next week, Mon-Wed. It appears that it is pretty close to the Natchez Trace, which I have ridden on from further South. Just curious what other types of riding may be available? I will probably be a little slow/timid as it will be some of my first saddle time since having a Vasectomy?! I have looked around the Shoals Cycling Club website and it shows a Tuesday night ride but I'm not really sure what type of ride it is? Thanks for any info/insight!

Hi. I'm member of Shoals Cycling Club. Live in Florence. Age 53 and somewhat of a Clydesdale, but trying to change that......not happening fast enough!

The SCC Tuesday nite ride is a neat ride. It leaves from the Florence/Lauderdale Industrial Park area which is right on the edge of town. Short distance of a few miles to a rural area which has about a 3 mile loop of very lightly traveled well paved roads. We call it the Llama Loop because there is a farm with those or similar animals on the route. Route is relatively flat.

Usually there are anywhere from 6-16 riders of varying ages and strengths. The faster guys group up and hammer out laps. The slower guys (I'm one) group up and go at an easier pace. We ride as many laps as time permits. Usually get in about 20 - 25 miles total, but since it's laps, you can do as many/few as you like and then head back in. We've got a club policy that Nobody Is Left Behind, especially guests. If you can come out and ride, we'll be glad to have you. I make most Tuesday nite rides, but miss occasionally due to work conflicts.

Directions to the meeting/starting place are posted on the SCC web site.

Let me know if I can help further. Hope to meet you Tuesday nite.
