US 21, St. Helena's Island

Over the past few years, I have received numerous inquiries about cycling on US 21 on St. Helena's Island toward Hunting Island. I have always recommended against riding past the community of St. Helen's Island, but not any more.

The road was repaved with a shoulder added! Four feet of pavement to the left of the white line. The white line has bumps in it to keep drivers in the lane. Still, the Harbor River Bridge is a narrow swing bridge, only 16 feet wide between the guardrails.
