Newbie here!!! Route ....

What would be the best route to get from Dekalb Ave. (lake clair) to 17th st.???? I would prefer as many back roads as possible until I get more experiance.

You'll find lots of Atl folks here. Stop by the Atlanta/Decatur thread and introduce yourself.
And if no one can offer a back roads route, ask the folks at the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition for assistance. --> www.atlantabike.org. They have bike maps, bike buddies (to ride with you until you feel comfortable with your route), bike classes, etc.
