Ft Morgan/Gulf Shores Alabama
Going on vacation and driving from St. Louis and thinking of taking the bike along with me. Anyone ride this area? Are the roads good for cycling? State parks and so on??

That question has been asked here a few times, but here is what I know. I have done Ft Morgan rd out and back and it is safe but flat. It seems like it was close to 30+ miles. The beach road from Gulf Shores to Perdido has bike lanes, but the traffic can still be heavy at times. Early morning rides would be best. There is Gulf Shores State Park, but it is not real big and I'm not sure what the roads are like in the park. If you haven't been there before you are in for a real treat as far as the beach goes. Bright white sand and usually crystal blue water.

you can also check with the guys at Infinity Bicycles in Orange Beach. The State park has about 12 to 14 miles of paved bicycle/walking paths that are ok, but can get crowded on weekends. As Spoke50 said, it is pretty much flat down here, with the only hills being the bridges over the intercostals and the pass in Orange Beach..... That said, there is pretty much always a fairly strong head wind down here that makes up for the lack of hills....

I am down here right now, just did a 40 mile, I have been down here for Spring Break 3 years in a row, and today was the first time there was not a headwind either out or back, it was a or should I say is a South Wind. It is great riding but as mentioned above you have to be OK with riding the same route multiple days in a row.
