Labor Day Weekend- Tour of Sebring
Not too early to think about participating in the 28th Annual Tour of Sebring. Our local club, the Highlands Pedalers is taking a larger role this year since our club secretary is the Event Director this year. Headquarters is still the Kenilworth Lodge our historic old hotel and Active.com is handling registration. Three days of riding rides of various lengths from 14 to 100 miles on back roads through orange groves and cattle ranches with very little automotive traffic.
Check it out! |
I met some of the BF members at our December event where fun was had by all. Looking forward to meeting more BF members Labor Day Weekend

I'm thinking about participating in this event I have it on my calendar.

You Florida folks from the Cities will love our low traffic back roads routes. Many of our routes goes miles between car sightings.

My family and I are attending again this year and looking forward to it. It was one of our favorite events last year. The routes, SAG, rest stops, and social events were all great.
If anyone hears about the routes being completed, please post about it here. I requested them last week, but they weren't completed yet. |

Met Thursday night with club to discuss volunteer rolls. This is the first year our club "The Highlands Pedalers" has pretty much had control of the event. Our website Highlands Pedalers.com (and we now have a Face Bood page) has lots of info. We have improved the catering this year and will have better marking for the SAG vehicles. Couple of minor changes in routes to try to take advantage of road improvements locally. We will have well marked roads and route maps on site. The Kenilworth Lodge is one of those grand old Florida Resorts that is fun in itself. All in All fun will be had |
Registrations pouring in. Should have around 300 riders this year. Time to sign up is now.

See you next weekend in Sunny Sebring

My pal Bill and I will be there for the long weekend. We will be the two old guys on recumbent TRIKES. Mine is a yellow catrike with hard panniers, my buddy Bill rides a TRICE Q with rear suspension. We love the rides, and look forward to a stay at the Kenilworth for the weekend. Sunday is my 35th wedding anniversary, and the wife and I will be celebrating at the Outback in Sebring with family and friends. Really looking forward to a couple days of riding and good eats!!!

I had a GREAT time at the Tour of Sebring this weekend! The folks at the Kenilworth Lodge couldn't have been nicer, the rides were well laid out, the rest stops first rate, and I really enjoyed the pre-ride briefings in the driveway of the lodge. Dave Anderson the SAG guy was great to be around, the catering and food was first rate. This was one of my best cycling events in a very long time. The guys in Sebring know how to put on a great ride, with multiple distances and rides for everybody. The free entry to Highland Hammock State Park was just icing on the cake.
Thanks again to everyone at Highlands Peddlers for the great weekend...we will be back next year! Tractor Tom in Okeechobee |

Red,
EVERYBODY wanted to trade bikes with me one time or another...I recall a fellow with a lot of white hair, asking me that, was that you? Didn't you turn off into the trailer park on our ride to Highlands Hammock on Monday? A assumed you knew a longer route to the park... Tractor Tom |

That red and white Lemond that you ride is one sexy bike. If I went back to a diamond frame, it would be high on my list...
