Linda,

Best of luck with your surgery. Once you're back on the bike, you know the weight will come off. Sorry you'll miss the Frank Pollack ride next month - was hoping we'd finally meet up.

Do the PT and you'll be back on the bike before you know it.

Sue

But, I'm determined that as soon as I can, I WILL be back on my bike. I just never thought I'd miss something so much. I've been reading the boards occasionally but basically just working and coming home and sitting. I had to go back to using the cane a few weeks back and now since I can't take any ibuprofen for the next week, I am back to the walker. The pain meds help at night but can't take them during the day. Anyway, llooking forward to posting to the "Did you ride today" thread real soon.

OK, Ron - no more excuses. Cool and windy doesn't count - traffic I'll give you a pass on that. You gotta keep in shape so you can ride the trails when you get back down to FL.

I gotta get my lazy butt off the couch and get out there. Too windy yesterday and too cool and windy today.
Maybe Wednesday.

Didn't make it today. Was busy running errands and watching movies during my afternoon nap (errands can be tiring).
Tomorrow is yoga day so .....

..... it looks like Friday will be it. My wife will be gone for the day with some girlfriends so I'll have no excuses.

No ride today. Its raining and my wife is so happy. We really need the rain -- especially our yard. Actually, I think most southern states need rain.

Why I didn't ride today!

Had a ride planned today, but woke up with a sore throat.. Didn't feel like riding in the rain, getting wet and cold and possibly coming down with a cold or flu...

Posting this from the iPhone app. See how that works...

Sitting at home this morning waiting for the HVAC people to come replace my complete system. Going to be a very expensive day.

I feel your pain, I had to do that a couple of years ago. NOT a good day for saving money for sure..

I haven't ridden since Tuesday... still fighting this summer cold/flu thing I have going on. It's just sapping the energy right out of me. Have a ride planned with the bike shop Sunday.... HOPE I'm feeling better by then..... I kind of planned part of the ride we are doing....

Haven't gotten to ride all week due to appx. 12" of rain we have been pounded with over the past 4 days. Hoping to get in some serious trail work over the long weekend! Markham park, Oleta state park and Virginia key trails have been on my mind all week. Dying to try out the new GT on some of the more technically challenging parks! Can't wait! Oh, btw... All week before this I was on a cruise..so I'm trail sick.

Well the rainfall is here in Miami, so if it didn't reach the northern parts I'm sorry. Will put in the request for multiple city showers when I get back to the lab!
Hit the trails hard today! Did two laps at Virginia key mtb trails and the bike is riding very nicely! Thanks!

Ahhh didn't realize you were in southern FL. Glad to hear you got out on the trails though!! I gave up the mountain bike for awhile after last weekends ride. There were SO MANY biting flies (yellow kind, black kind, red kind) out that it was crazy. Very annoying and they hurt when they bite .... grrr. Sooo back to the road bike for awhile..

Well the chance for a ride is looking dim today as of 7:51am. Bike ride with the shop is set for 3pm and I just checked the forecast and it says 75-80 percent change of storms, not just rain.

As ... michelinmike said in the "did you ride today" thread.... Some times you just don't want to deal with all the clean up that goes along with riding in the rain. My stuff had just barely got dried out from yesterday, didn't feel like getting all soaked again on a ride. Soooo didn't ride today... On again off again rain all day today.

Didn't ride again... For the same reason as above.. But I did clean my bike... Found 2 very small stress cracks on my back wheel. Also over the last several rides the bottom bracket has started to make noise at different times. So I spent awhile looking at rear wheels & hubs, cassettes and bottom brackets... The bottom bracket and cassette have a LOT of miles on them (chain too). Just didn't expect to have to be looking for a new rear wheel..... Going to the shop tomorrow for opinions and advice... (This is on the road bike)...

Took the bike to the shop.... Had Dana check it out... Seems my bottom bracket is still good to go. Said i really needed a new chain, cassette & even the 2 front rings. Found a set of Mavic rims with 105 hubs for $186 with shipping NEW. Had him order the 105 cassette and chain rings. Also got new pulleys for the derailer (sp). $25 bucks for labor... Cant beat that!! But the bike is down till the rims come in... Sooo guessing i'll be riding the 29'er for a week or so...

Why no ride this morning? Well, this ought to explain it nicely...

All the club rides got scrubbed this morning owing to a really suboptimal weather forecast. It's already raining off and on, and conditions are supposed to deteriorate markedly by later this morning. Shoot. And I put new tires on th' bike and everything. Oh well, back to bed I guess.

Man I just cant get a break. Got the HVAC done 3 weeks ago. Then had a constant barrage of errands that necessitated driving in to work most days. Went on vacation 2 weeks ago and didn't get in a single ride with all the stuff I had planned to do around the house and on the cars (ball joints and Valve cover gasket on the family van, some work on a few other things and some yard stuff). Planned to get a ride in last Sunday but Saturday night I walk into my dining room and notice the carpet is wet in the corner near the kitchen. Pull the corner up and sure enough its all wet. Dishwasher was running and went to an empty cycle and I watch a trickle of water run along the sill.

Go grab some tool pull the toe panel off the dishwasher and its bone dry under it. Dry in the cabinets. Run the water in the sink and yep I have water in the dining room. The leak is IN the wall behind the kitchen cabinets on an exterior wall.

So I spent last Sunday removing all but 2 of my lower cabinets to get in that the wall. It had been leaking for a while but being behind the cabinets we never saw the water. most of it was finding its way out (slab house). Got my plumber buddy out to replace the drain line to the cast iron. Luckily no rotten wood. Just took a couple days of the fan blowing non stop to get it all dried out.

Our cabinets are original (1971) to the house and built on site. They are showing their age bad and so we are now looking at a complete kitchen remodel. Of course all the dimensions are screwed up and not workable to current standards so no off the shelf. SO now we are looking at removing a non weight baring wall to open the space up and get so spacing on the cabinets that will work..What we want do do is going to mess with the natural break where the kitchen floor transitioned to the family room so that's going to mean reflooring the Kitchen, Family room and dining room (one space with vaulted ceilings). And while we are at it might as well replace the entry foyer and living room. We want to go to a floating wood floor (dogs and kids have not been kind to the carpet).

I'm leaving in 30 minutes to go see the kitchen designer at Home depot. Looks like another $5.5k on the kitchen and $1500 for floor (with me doing all the labor). Well at least I'll have a nice place to hang out in as I twiddle my thumbs the next 5 years as I recover from all the bills.

WOW..... That sure is a case of "one thing leads to another"... You know I started this thread off because my kitchen sink blew the hot water handle off and I had to go to Home Depot (or Lowes) to get a new faucet so didn't go on a ride. But your water mess was 10x worse than that. I was just looking at some laminate flooring at Home Depot 2 days ago.... We had the cabinet guy out here that my nephew knows a few months back........ Had some plans drawn up.... BUT cant seem to draw up the cash to get them done...

BUT I managed to get the money to have my road bike overhauled ... Fist ride in a bit today!!

only on the spinner at the gym this week. Between the rain and work, not able to get out. But, this weekend we're headed to Stephen Foster State Park. Planning some riding on the trails there and at Big Shoals. I saw on the Suwanne River Bicycle Club site that there are some new trails inside Stephen Foster so we'll check those out. We've been to Big Shoals before but looking forward to going back. The last time we were there the River was very low in both places. Hoping that neither got too much damage from Debby and that the water levels are back up.....but not too much.
