Haven't ridden in a few days. We've had our second set of visitors (the landlord from N. GA). They got here Tuesday night and left this morning. We'll have more company in about 10 days and more in mid-March.
Hey everybody, Ron has moved to FL so lets go visit.

Tomorrow I can ride.

I haven't riden the last two days because I got Carjacked in Downtown Orlando at gunpoint. The idiots couldn't drive a stick and ended up leaving the car. Talked about it on Fox News and they blew it up into a national story. Between banks, getting new ID, endless calls from press and working with the police...there hasn't been time for a ride. Guess I'm going to get my CCW now, and look for something small enough to carry while I ride given my recent live these last few days...

I really need a ride...

No ride today, my priorities are severely out of whack, I had to work late for a contract bid opening. An NO, we didn't get the job, either. Should have ridden I suppose.

WOW..... That is the best reason ever and the worst reason ever for not riding..... But on the bright side things could have turned out a LOT worse...

wow, saw this on the news! Sorry to hear. We get the news out of Orlando up here in Ocala and it seems like all we hear is robberies and murders. Glad you were not hurt.

Only getting to ride on weekends myself. Last weekend was the first one that I had both days off and was able to ride both days. Not working this weekend so I'm hoping to ride both days.

Wow!! Glad it didn't turn out worse. These types of things may get worse.
Ruger LCP is what I have my eye on for both my wife and I. Our CCW's will be here any day. Buying a safe this week to keep them in. Hate the world has come to the point where I feel the "need" to have a weapon.

My why.
Tornados wind and lightning.

I will be be busy tomorrow loading antennas up for tower crews to fix all the damage we had today. May drive in case I have to work late. I might have to go deliver parts up that way as well. I know we had three sites completely off air near Adairsville when I went home. Have not heard of any on the ground. Looks like power related issues and downed trunks mostly. Half way expect a 2am call to open the warehouse tonight.

Didn't ride today because I broke a spoke on the way into the neighborhood yesterday on the commute home, and was too tired to fix it last night. Hopefully, I have the correct spoke and can fix it and do a quick true tonight after work. Then I can ride in to work tomorrow...

I have only been riding sporadically for the past month. What started out as installing laminate floors in the living room and dinning room has evolved into a whole different project. Drywall & texture the walls, put up lights. I hardly ever do this kind of thing. So things that I think will take a day .... take 3... or more... Things come up that I didn't plan for, Had NO idea to plan for until they come up. Weather plays a roll too... can't cut wood, stain or paint wood outside if the weather isn't right. Turns out the best days for cutting, staining or painting wood are the best days for riding a bike too.... grrrrrr. Not to mention I still have to make money during this whole process.... ohhhh and finally got my TV back in the living room after a month without it.. haha...

The end is in sight I HOPE!!! Then back to more riding!!

Sounds like my last year. Remodel bath, then the HVAC dies, then the plumbing went in the kitchen and by the time it was all over new kitchen, 800+sqft of new laminate flooring and a bleeding bank account. Should have a heck of a good amount of points on the REI credit card where it all bounced through. My pick up a Novara Zealo for a new commuter. LOL

We took our company (wife's cousin) to the Tampa airport this morning. Then stopped at Whole Foods in Carrollwood. Came home and crashed with a Pepsi and a pile of snacks. "Running a B&B" (at least that's what our "northern" friends and family think it is) is getting old really fast. We have more company next month (she's ok, our former yoga teacher ) and more company around mid-April.

Ron... Maybe you should get a few extra bikes and then you can take the company on bike tours on the trail!! They might love it which would mean more riding... Or they might hate it which could mean they wont want to visit anymore.... Either way you win...

Stupid weather guessers! Had to go do audits at remote locations this past week. Was back to solo so I normally take a bike. Heavy rain was forecast the whole week for the locations I was going so I took the bosses smaller truck instead of the full size van.
Albany GA has a trail along the Flint River I have been wanting to check out. It poured so I felt ok about no bike. Tuesday had me in Valdosta. Ended up meeting a guy that does a little flipping and came very close to popping on a Schwinn 754 he had that was in fair condition. When I got to Savannah on Wednesday it was mid 70's and overcast but no rain and no bike.

Will be back in the area in May.

Crashed....opps..

Didn't go out today because both the Wife and my bikes are being repaired. On our ride yesterday she got blow off course by a wind gust, dropped into the grass next to the trail and crashed as her wheel caught the edge of the pavement....right in front of me. I then ran over her arm as she tumbled, and did a forward somersault still locked into those pesky modern SPD pedals I am trying to get used to. I hit hard and hurt a lot today. She hurt her wrist and was generally banged up a lot.

Overall, for as bad as the crash was- we didn't get badly hurt at all. We rode back to out LBS and I left her there and rode home to get the van to bring her home. I figured if she was hurt, it would be a trip to ER instead, and sitting let her relax after it all and figure out how bad she was hurt. I was overjoyed to find that she was bummed about the wreck and wanted to get the bikes fixed ASAP. A year ago, she would have been all angry and declared she was never riding again. Cycling is making a huge positive improvement in both our lives.

She doesn't know it yet, but the LBS already fixed our damages and the bikes are safely at home. She'll see them tonight after she gets home from her evening shift. Hope to take a short ride tomorrow!

Glad you guys didnt get hurt worse and glad to hear the wife is taking it well. My wife crashed almost 3 years ago right in front of the house and has refused to get on a bike that wasn't strapped to a trainer since. Her attitude spread to my daughter. I ride alone...with nobody else.

Weather and nonstop barage of un expected stuff has kept me from riding.

Was planning a ride this afternoon...mom called at 11. Her fridge died last night. It wont stop running and freezing the fridge and stopped defrosting. You can hear the thermostat click but it doesn't shut off the compressor she tells me. She had to turn it completely off for a few hours then turn it back on to keep the food OK (its Stuffed). Its 20+ years old and instead of paying $200+ for somebody to repair it shes going to buy a new one. Going to go help her with that in a few and she has the same fridge as mine so I'm harvesting the Ice maker and a couple parts to keeps ours going before it gets hauled off. Bummer is mines only a year or two newer so I have a feeling I may be replacing mine soon as well.

No riding for me for the next 6 days.
We're heading up to ATL to file our last ever GA taxes with our tax guy. Then the wife wants to go to N. GA to see our friends cabin. I'm not looking forward to the trip. Here's why.

I'll be glad to get back down here to the warm stuff and riding.

So how did your friends like Weeki Wachee. We have passes and took the boys a little over a year ago. They weren't terribly impressed.

My excuse for not riding - weeklong stomach virus.

She has wanted to be a Weeki Wachee mermaid since childhood. She liked it but said being a mermaid was more work and training than she realized.

We got back from far north GA (less than 5 miles south of the TN/NC/GA state line) last night. Glad to be back.

This is what we woke up to on Sat morning.

This is the barn. Nicer inside than many folks homes.

I ventured out mid day Sun after some of the snow had melted to get a shot of the "cabin"

The high Sat was 36 and Sun it was 34.

I'm glad to be back down here where its sunny and warm. Gotta ride today.

Well, it's been either too windy or too cold, (more like too late in the day warm, as the case may be), for me to ride. Today I have to do a change over on our Navigator from air ride suspension to springs. Ughh! I hate working on cars any more, plus as time goes on, I know less and less about it!

But the 10 day weather forecast says highs in the 70's and 80's, no winds above 12 mph, and only one day with a decent chance of rain! Yeah! Hope we're done with these cold snaps! Time to ride!!

Excuses, excuses, excuses! If you read my last post, you know we had wonderful riding weather here for the last week or so and I rode .... not once. Was too stiff and sore from being underneath the truck all day on the 8th so I didn't ride on the 9th, and by the 10th I got sick. Flu bug or something .. still recovering. And this week they are calling for off and on rain. Lovely.

When our daughter was little she used to hear me grouse about that no-good Irishman Murphy and his Laws. One day something went wrong in her middle-school life and she came into the living room stamping her feet and asked, "What's that guy's name again, Murray?"

So now we attribute all snafus to that no-good Jewishman Murray!

Our latest batch of visitors is here this week. They brought their wally-world mtn bikes. Maybe we'll head over to the Withlacoochee Trail this week.
They want to kayak and dive (he has been a diving instructor). Not sure what else they'll want to do.
I hope I get to ride the Suncoast Trail at least one day this week.
