Pay backs are hell aren't they. It never got above 57 here today so I am still setting by the fire trying to get warm. How was the trip?

I wish it was 57 here. I'd be out for a long ride. It was a balmy 34 at my house with off and on flurries, so I'm sitting by the wood burning stove.

We started supplementing our heat with a standard Buck insert I bought last year for $250. We cut our gas bill in half.

I'm beginning to think the 3/4 of a cord I have that is seasoned is not going to last till the 2 cords we split in septemeber has got reasonably seasoned. Throwing in a piece for every 3-4 of the seasoned stuff. Still popping.

SloSpoke, it was a great trip! Western Caribbean cruise. We stayed overnight in Ft. Lauderdale the day before we left and I was jealous of all the riders I saw passing over the 17 St. bridge. It just makes me mad because I was getting used to the cold before I left, and now I'm going to have to do it all over again. I won't be jealous of the Florida folk come mid summer though. I think I need to be a snow bird. :-)

Cold, windy, cold, sprinkles/flurries, windy and cold.

Currently 32 degrees with 20-30 mph winds and the temperature is dropping.
I'm gonna sit right here in front of the stove and stay toasty and warm.

Same today except colder. It was 19 this morning. I had to go outside in the subfreezing temperatures to cut some kindling for the stove.
Looks like Friday will be my first chance to ride. Its supposed to be 52 and sunny.

This morning I saw more people on bikes than I have since it got all wintry. Our regular neighborhood sidewalk salmon, a roadie in my neighborhood sitting upright cruising down the road with both hands in opposite armpits, and several commuters. I was not one of them. 15 degrees this morning. Been shopping around online for a neck gaiter/balaclava, long underwear bottoms and windproof pants. But it's usually not this cold here for this long. Sitting out this long is making me itch (and probably fat). But I'm also not interested in arriving to work with snotcicles hanging from my face.

It's been way too cold here. Looks like rain/snow mix off and on for the next few days. Maybe I'll get to ride on Sunday. It's supposed to be way up there --- maybe 44F.

If thinking about riding counted as riding...... then I would be riding quite a bit..... But I think about riding & then I think about how cold I would be.... so I go back to just thinking about riding...

Today would have been a great day for riding. The temperature made it up to 57. The rain kept me inside. Did a quick 1.5 mile walk between the showers.

It's been raining for the past three days, perfect temperature for cycling otherwise; I nightrode on thursday night and overheated in my long sleeves and knee socks. Would ride today if I had to go to market but I'll do tomorrow, maybe I'll nightride tonight. Today I think I want to sit by the computer and have bike fantasies

Got home last night and fixed my hanging brifter on the "Hot Rod" (R300 built as a R800) anticipating riding it to work for a short day at work. Raining when I work up.
After I was done at work though I did run down to a "sports consignment shop" I was told about last week. They had some 7 speed brifters (they were sold). I scored like new 600/Ultegra tricolor 53/39 cranks and rear derailleur(circa 1995) a Ultegra front (2002) and 105 triple cranks for a very nice price. now I just need to figure out what to put them on. I'm thinking the R300 has aspirations to be dressed as a R100 and the 600/Ultegra parts should land on it. Just need to find some 600/Ultegra brifters.
