Well, you *could* take them over to the north end of Suncoast and turn `em loose. After all, they *are* mountain bikes.

Good one Bill.
Back in ATL they ride about a mile around their neighborhood so if we go to the *flat* Withlacoochee they might make it half way to Floral City before we have to turn around and tie a tow rope to their bikes.

Our company left about a hour ago. Now we're gonna kick back and relax and I'll be getting ready for tomorrow's Withlacoochee Clean Air Ride.

No riding this week. It's been doctor week for my wife. Tomorrow she's free so I'll head out to the Suncoast Trail.

Had nothing to do with the 40-50 degree temps and 18-25 mph winds? Uh-huh, ok. We'll let you get by with that THIS time!

I'll be heading out tomorrow, too, but not till afternoon. Finally got my wife and daughter's Burley tandem done for them. Our life has been in such upheaval that we've owned the bike for months and I just now got around to building it! So they'll probably get out some this weekend on it.

Daughter's been sick with a bad flu bug the last few days. Naturally, per Murphy's law, my beloved Motorola Razr cell died too, so I didn't feel comfortable leaving her here sick with no way to contact me. That took care of Monday and Tuesday.

Today was a 100 mile round trip to St. Pete to bathe myself in Bureaucratic BS for 2 hours. That takes care of today, and tomorrow the Weather Channel says by the time it's warm enough to ride, (10AM), it supposed to start raining and continue thru till Friday at daybreak!

See ya next week, I guess!

No ride yesterday even though it was beautiful weather. We are painting our home's interior and doing my wife's office is a "Do a section and reassemble it for the next day's business" type of progression. Did the computer center corner, those 14' ceiling heights will kill you going up and down the ladder to cut in the wall intersection. Like getting a short ride workout without any wind.

Weather has been great but my foot not so much.
I have no idea what I did to it. 2 weeks ago I was out bike shopping and foot started hurting. Periodically feels like brick dropped on it. No bruising but swollen. Just wont quit. Think its Gout. Getting older sucks. Hope this quits soon. I'm ready for some long rides before the summer heat kicks in.

Spent the day yesterday pressure washing the patio -- approx 18 x 80 and all paver stones with grass between the stones. I told you this was a big house!! Glad we decided not to buy it. I thought I'd be done shortly after noon. I finally finished at 4pm.
Today I feel like a truck ran over me so I'm heading to the bike shop to pick up a new floor pump and a few other errands.
I hope I'll feel like riding tomorrow.

I check my bike almost every ride (brakes, gears, tire wear, etc) but rarely check my cleats.
I got to the parking area at the north end of the Suncoast Trail today and got the bike out of the car, my helmet, etc. When I pulled my cleat cover off it didn't make the usual sound. I checked my Speedplay cleat and 2 of the 4 screws were missing. When did they come out?
So I loaded everything in the car and headed home. Luckily I had some extra screws and after cleaning up the shoes I replaced all 4 screws on both shoes. Now I'm good to go for next time. Guess I'l be checking the cleats a little more often.

All we need to complete this joke is a guy in asylum pajamas sitting on the fence asking, "Uh, Ron, why didn't you take one screw out of the other shoe and go ahead and ride with three screws in each?"

I must have had a senior moment. My multi-tool has a phillips so I could have done that and then stopped at Extreme Bicycles and asked Z to replace the two screws.

Don't feel bad. I came home from my last ride on my single with a rattling headset and my 3 year old handlebar tape unfurling from the right side drop like a tail on a kite. And I'm a mechanic with a full bike shop in my garage!

Which is why I didn't ride today, incidentally. Some long overdue bike maintenance on several of our bikes! When you haven't done it in a while, it's funny how fresh h'bar tape can make you feel like you got a brand new bike!

Rode the mountain bike on Sat the 13th. Was turning around on a sandy road almost stopped wasn't paying attention front tire caught a rut in the sand couldn't unclip in time.. over I went. Slo-motion fall. Thought I had bruised my ankle so just kept riding.. Ended up riding another 7 miles on the day. Hung out at the park... Had dinner got home at about 10:30 took my shoe off.... and ugggg The outside of my left ankle swelled up almost as fast as I took my shoe off. Lower ankle sprain... So haven't rode since Sat and not sure when I will ride again... <sigh>

No ride Saturday `cause of crap to do around here. No ride Sunday `cause it was "Over the river and thru the woods, to grandmother's house we go" day. Think I'm kidding? Here's a link to Google maps - 3 miles off the nearest paved road, back in the swamps of the Withlacoochee! And no ride today on account of rain and sloppy roads!

No ride today. The B&B will be open again beginning Thursday. Our friends (the landlords) are coming down again. They're also coming back the last week of June.
We like our friends but they've never heard the saying, "After three days fish and company begin to stink." I'm guessing they'll be here 5 days.
So we've been cleaning and working around the yard.
I'll be so flippin happy when we are in our house. There is a nice Holiday Inn right down the road.

Our friends postponed until today. They'll be here after supper. So no ride today. Putting the finishing touches on the B&B.

Would it be rude to hang one of these in the living room?

No ride for me either. Been digging trenches, tracing drain field lines, mowing 2.25 acres, etc.

When we lived in Clearwater, we eventually bought a camper for a "guest house" so they could buy & cook their own food, lounge around their own living room like they owned the place, and misplace their own damned TV remote!

After 4+ years worth of company out of the ten years we lived in that house, we learned our lesson. When we were shopping for the camper, we told people we wanted something between a 2 slice toaster oven and an air-conditioned coffin, i.e., not very big, not very comfortable, and not very likely for company to want to stay in very long or very often!

We have another friend who says she always puts company on air mattresses. If they're not gone in three days, she pokes a small hole in `em so they wake up every morning on the floor. They leave soon afterwards, and everybody gets to ride their bikes again!

We have ~3000 sq ft so there's lots of space and they DO OWN the house. We renting from them till our house is finished.
After we move (Sept?? Oct??) the house will be empty for 10-11 months of the year till they sell it -- if they decide to go that route.

Didn't make the Extreme Bicycles ride today. Some nights I don't sleep well (old age ) so last night my wife suggested I try one of her herbal sleep remedies she got at the health food store. She said they work well for her. So I thought I'd give it a shot. Went to sleep right away and woke up at 1:45AM. I was still looking at the clock at 4:55AM when I realized that the alarm was about to go off (set to wake me up for the ride). So I got up and turned off the alarm before it woke my wife and got back in bed. Finally got to sleep after 6AM and slept until 8:30AM.
So much for herbal sleep remedies.

Sorry Matt if you were at the ride. Hopefully next week.
