St. Marks Railroad Historic Railroad State Trail
I live about an hour and a half from Tallahassee and someone mentioned a paved trail that goes from Tom Brown Park to the coast. I am assuming the trail is the St. marks Railroad trail but cant confirm this. The only maps I see on the trail says it is about 20 to the coast but i was told it was longer. Anyone have any info on this trail or what trail leaves the park and heads to the coast? I also need info on where to find the trail head. Many thanks

retnav94,
The information you received is correct. The trail is only 16 miles long from the main trailhead down to St. Marks. There is a 4.5 mile extension that goes north into Tallahassee from the main trailhead. You can get information from the Rails-to-Trails website or FloridaGreenwaysAndTrails.com .
Currently the trail is undergoing maintenance and may not be open the entire length. The toll free number for the office of Greenways & Trails is ( 877 ) 822-5208. They should be able to give you the current info.
Hope this helps....................

Many thanks strow. I did get a ton of info in the ride from another rider who actually was doing the ride today. I googled it and found the trail starting point nw of Bobby Bowden Field. The last 7 miles from Wakulla to ST Marks is under construction so we will peel off and head to the wildlife refuge and the coast. We will eventually get to St Marks. It looks like a good ride,
