Snow Bird Help

Hello to all planning on Snow Birding to Florida this winter and need a location that is bike path friendly. The wife does not like to ride much on roads can't deal with traffic . We now ride 12 to 15 miles a day. We both have hybryds and its getting cool in Illinois can't wait to get to Florida. Thanks

What part of Florida are you coming to? North, Central, South, East coast or West coast?

If that is the case I would recommend central Florida, we have the Seminole Wekiva Trail, The Cross Seminole Trail and the West Orange Trail and the Cady Way Trail all within minute of each other. A short drive will get you to the Withlacoochee (sp) and the James Van Fleet, and The South Lake Trail if you want some hills. Day trips can be to The Pinellas Trail in St Pete or the Sun Coast Trail in Tampa. All excellent riding areas

Inverness, FL. Sort of the mid point of the 46 mile long Withlacoochee Bike Trail.

Take a look at Biking Florida to read the reviews all the trails. There is a lot of diversity of trail systems, so it is hard to recommend since we don't know what you are really looking for. Good luck and enjoy your visit.

Don't overlook Okeechobee...

I live in Okeechobee, and will speak for our trail... Here along the north shore of Lake Okeechobee, we have dozens of RV parks, including the #1 rated KOA in the country and several 'condo' style resorts where you can purchase an RV lot. Also, along the northern edge of Lake Okeechobee we have the Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail, part of the Florida trails system, that runs from the Okee-tantie County Park at the Kissimmee River, to Port Mayaca some 26 miles away. The trail is 12 feet wide, paved and runs along the top of a 30 foot tall dike, with expansive views of Lake Okeechobee, the Rim Canal and surrounding forest and pasture land. The LOST is perhaps one of the most overlooked trails in Florida.
