I'm eternally stupid, but this forum helps with that. I bought a new bike about a year ago and that was the first time I'd ridden in probably 10 years. I felt like I was riding a spaceship. I had no idea what half of the levers did or why I needed them, but between my LBS and Bikeforums.net, I learned.
The search function on this site will help you learn pretty much all there is to learn, but remember to be objective. While there are a lot of folks who know what they're talking about here, there just as many, if not more, who don't know. Be sure to do thorough research.
Be careful about what you read and don't take anything personal. People can be rude, but don't let that stop you from asking questions. If you don't know something, then that means someone else doesn't know it, and by asking the question and receiving an answer, you're contributing to the wealth of knowledge on this site. Just remember you do have responsibilities of your own, such as searching the forum before asking your question.
Good luck man.
