Greenville is popular and a good Southern city. There are lots of good cycling areas around Greenville, especially the Northern areas (Saluda, Ceasars Head, etc).

I grew up there, and go back pretty often to see family and do races. It's nice but not the best.

Indeed, it's a beautiful part of the country. I dont have any cycling time there but have spent time in the area. Where are the good biking spots?

I have been living in Greenville for the past 8 years now and love it! And now that I am getting into cycling...well I love it even more! I have noticed a lot of people cycle Ceaser's Head, Paris Mountain, Swamp Rabbit Trail...not to mention I love riding the country side.

I live in Greenville, SC and really do like it. I'm not sure about being on vacation all the time, but it is a fairly laid back town. Great cycling around here.

I like riding the Watershed up to Saluda. Great ride!

Last time I was there, I did encounter this old guy who reminded me of Brent Spinner in Independence Day
He dressed me down for asking directions. I got turned around, and he gave me an earful, stating that us "city folks" come uptown ride and get killed on their roads...

He thinks the roads are bad in Travelers Rest, he needs to come get some six gap action. I think I saw 3-4 cars on the whole ride...

It's quite a nice city and the bicycling is pretty good there. They've done one heck of a job with the city over the past 20 to 30 years. If you want hills, they got them, if you want to ride fairly flat, Greenville has you covered also. Spartanburg on the other hand..............

Ive lived in Gville now for 1.5 years and just now starting to appreciate the good riding. Its a place for all skill levels. I live in Simpsonville and its hilly countryside riding galore south of me. Literally 100s of miles of lightly traveled roads which you can get lost on very easy. The best investment I ever made was a garmin where I could follow predetermined routes and not worry about getting lost. North of town is where the mountains are and plenty of challenge. I come from southern california and can say the absolute elevation is higher out there, but the grades and technical nature of the roads are just as hard. I actually think that SC/NC mountains may be better than SOCAL only because the amount of ride options. With all that said, I am jealous of Asheville because they are in the heart of the mountains. If only greenville was located about 30 mi north....
