2nd Annual Withlacoochee Trail Ride for BF members

When: Sunday, March 30, 2014
Where: at the Red Caboose at the Inverness Trailhead or at the Trilby trailhead
Time: 11:00 a.m.
Ride Distance: Whatever you want
Ride Speed: Whatever you want

Details: Both groups will meet up around 12:30 at Lake Townsen Park. That will be about 15 miles from both start locations. Faster/longer riders can just ride past Lake Townsen Park and double back for the 12:30 meetup. Riders that want a shorter distance can ride from Inverness to Floral City and return.

We had a good turnout last year despite freezing temperatures. The weather at the end of March should be great so Be There or Be Square!!

Link to Trail Brochure: https://www.dep.state.fl.us/gwt/guide...with_state.htm with directions to the trailheads.

The group that I ride with up here has been talking and throwing the idea around of going south and riding the Withlacoochee for awhile. Maybe I can gather them up and we can come join you guys that weekend. Trying to get this group to actually plan and go someplace does not always work though.... But i'll run the idea by them and see...

I'm in.

My 46 y/o son who lives in Orlando picked up his new 2014 Specialized Crosstrail Sport Disc bike this week. First bike he's had since high school. Perhaps I can persuade him to join us.

Sure would like to make the March 30 ride but I have a pretty full plate of rides in March.
Then cycle Flagler on April 6.
Let me know when the next one is.

I don't see anything on your schedule for March 30 so come on over and ride with us.

I'm in Michigan but as luck would have it, will be in Florida at that very time. Maybe if it works out, I could have 3 riders join the group. I'll have to see how long it would take to get there though from the kissimee area.

Too cold for me last year.

It was a strange winter last year. March was the coldest month of the year. My birthday ride in late January last year saw temps in the 80s. About the only days too cold to ride were in March.

This year, it was 34 on my birthday and I had the day off not to ride but because everything was shut down due to the rare ice storm.

So let's hope March is also the reverse of last year.

What's the cycle flagler on the 6th? I'm one town south of flagler. Sounds interesting.

It's a great ride starting at the Palm Coast High School. 24, 40, 62, and 100 mole options. Sponsored by Rotary Club

The more the merrier.

If you take the turnpike from Kissimmee its about an hour and a half to downtown Inverness. Hope you can make it.

We have a group ride starting at the Red Caboose every Saturday morning at 9 AM (8 AM when the time changes back), but I'll see if I can't make it two days in a row, and perhaps bring a friend or two from the Saturday ride.

Great! We welcome all riders. Most of us ride at an easy pace, so two days in a row shouldn't be too much of an issue - and, you can go whatever distance you want. This ride is a way for BF members to get to know each other - put a face to a name.

I'm in again this year. Good weather will bring Mrs Podagrower, but after last year's ride, some minimum temperature requirements were established.

Perfect day for riding with some BF members. Here's some pictures of our 2014 Tour de Withlacoochee. JBerman, Podgrower, RonH, lookinup, two friends from Ocala and DowneasTTer enjoyed a 30+ ride and a stop at the Floral City pie shop. The cat that entertained us last year was more subdued this year - guess all that exercise wore him out!!!

Thanks everyone for another awesome ride on the Withlacoochee.
Here are a few more pictures.

Looks like we're lost in the woods.

Looks like we're way TOO relaxed for hardcore cyclists.
