Atlanta's "Mobile Social"?
Hey all, wanted to ask any of you if you are familiar with this event ride?
One of my ITP friends is active in the CM rides and other various event rides around town and invited me to the upcoming Mobile Social this Friday night. I inquired as to the mindset of this ride as opposed to the Mass rides. Basically I want to know if this ride also runs through town completely mindless of drivers and traffic law. I refuse to participate in that manner of protest. The organizer of the ride has not replied to numerous requests for information regarding this subject.

Don't know anything about it but the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition has it listed on their website, so I'm guessing it legit.

Thanks Ron, it appears that they address my specific concern within that link. Appreciate it.
On a separate note, hope you enjoy Fl.

The ride was really good, to any of you interested in knowing. I met up with quite a few nice people and am already looking forward to the next ride in Sept. There were reps from the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition there are well, and if I can find the event listing am going to try and make some of their rides as well.....I really hate that I live so far outside of Atl right now, this is the kind of cycling scene I could really get into. Super fun with a real sense of community.

Down here in Savannah there's a Bike to Beer on Tuesdays.
Unfortunately those two things, as much as I enjoy them independently, don't mix well for me.

Yeah, I am really not much of a drinker anymore. They have a couple of events where drinking is almost encouraged afterward, but noted a very strong anti-drinking mentality during the ride. Fits me well, makes me wish I lived much closer to town and could ride with them more during the month.
On the opposing viewpoint the friend who invited me to the ride (and had me pick him up on the way up) got completely smashed beforehand and made a complete ass of himself for the ride. It was rather unfortunate that a small portion of the people looked at me differently due to being "that guys" friend at the ride. I think the major portion of them took it for what it was, I have no control over him. He was so trashed that he quite literally crashed three times during a 10 mile ride, argued with a homeless person, and made an offhand comment to some gang bangers. On his first crash I heard one of the judgmental riders exclaim "Instant Karma", to which I replied to him that judging someone has it's own....lol.
I still met more than a few really cool people at the meet and eat at the end, a place called Noni's Italian...the meatball sub was a-ma-zing.

guess i need to check this forum more often. I would love to go to a ride that isn't a CM mentality in downtown. We really do have an awesome city that i all too often zoom past in my car and don't really take the time to slow down a little and enjoy. you say there's another on in Sept? I'll look into that.

Yes, the events are posted to Facebook and happen the second Friday of the month from Woodruff Park, rain or shine just no lightning. Hit me up by PM again, or call my cell I shot over to you and we can discuss locating one another on FB and I will shoot you a few links.
