At this time, we are still planning to be there and are currently hoping the weather forecasters at BN9 are wrong about the highs. For all you non-natives, it probably won't bother you a bit.
Sounds like someone is scared of weather that's less than 80 degrees, to me The weather will be great for riding by 11:00, even for a Florida girl, and by Sunday the nippers will be over the snotty part.

PS, What did you think of the circuit racing in Dade City on Sunday, decent stuff, eh?

I hope you have a great ride. If it weren't the Sebring 12/24 weekend a couple of us would come up. Might even drag Tom along with us I love the trail and the Central. Motel. Maybe next time

Not going to make it... I had a little 'event' with my back on Tuesday morning. X-rays and things followed, and I'm off the bike for a couple of days. The idea of driving my little S10 pickup to the start place would be harder on me than the bike ride... I'm feeling quite a bit better, but don't want to go backwards in my recovery and then not be able to commute to work on my bike. Next time, I guess! And I'll bring Red with me....

Well, looks like everyone who might have started out from the southern end has had to bail out. So, I'm a-thinkin we will too. It was just bad luck having the scheduled date be the coldest, windiest day of the month.

We've decided to drive up to visit my mom who, coincidentally, lives by the north end of the trail. Se we're going to stop at the red caboose a little before 11:00 to say hi, but we won't be riding.

For those who are, if no one else is coming up from the south I'd definitely change ride directions to go into the wind first! You learn these things when you get old!

The Weather's looking better every day - temps predicted for Sunday in the upper 50's - would bet they get to 60 by Sunday.

The Ride is still ON for those brave enough to tackle such
COLD
weather!

Looking forward to it. See you Sunday!

I'll repeat this for those who might need a vest or jacket to keep warm. I have 3 jackets and 3 vests -- PI, Cannondale, Nashbar, or REI -- if anyone needs one for the ride -- all size L.

There will be plenty of WARM sunshine so I'll see you on Sunday.

I'll be thinking of everyone at the Withlacoochee BF Florida Ride. Here's to clear sky's, light breezes and mild temperatures for all of you the entire day. Enjoy the ride and the fellowship, we fully expect lots pictures and ride reports from as many of you as can do so. Ride Lots and Ride Safe.

Regards,
Bill

I am going to have to back out of the ride tomorrow. I had finally got my head around the cold temperatures and even found some inexpensive long sleeved tech shirts for my little guys. However, the Sky part of Liamskymom woke me up with a stomach virus at 3 something this morning and is still having problems. He also has an on again off again fever. With our luck, the Liam part and I will have it soon enough.

Have a great ride tomorrow though and I will be thinking about you all.

Forgot to add for Fire, loved the racing last weekend. My mom lives about a half mile from where the road race on Saturday started and ended, so enjoyed a little bit of that as well.

Well, nuts! Now we're going to have to bail completely. My mom called and cancelled on us, so, since we're not going to ride in this frigid winter weather and risk having our water bottles frozen in place, we won't be there. Sorry.

I think it was a good plan and location, particularly with the north and south rides. Maybe try again when the weather gets a little more reliable in the spring.

P.S. - Ron, I remember when I fit into a Large jacket or vest! Add a couple X's now!

With all the eating out we're doing I've put on 8 pounds in the 3 months we've been here even though I'm riding more miles and more often. Seems all the visitors want to have fresh seafood and "different" foods they don't eat at home.

So who will be riding tomorrow other than lookinUp and myself?

Ron,

Natalie and John will be joining us. Those are the folks we rode with in the Goethe Forest a few weeks ago.

I still plan on being there even though I don't know any of the current riders. I'll be the very short woman on the Madone with a bright lemon helmet.

That's one of the purposes in the ride -- to meet and put a face with your BF name.
I'm looking forward to seeing and meeting everyone.

As far as I know, we're still on. I'll be the old big grey haired lady on a Trek. Not sure which bike DH will be taking. We'll be in a white Ford pickup. Hoping it warms up to at least 60! If not, it might be a short ride south.

It's ON! Just think, if we were living in Minnesota, we would think temps in the 50's would be great and we'd be out riding with tee shirts on. After living in Florida for a while, we think that's cold! Dress warm!

ummm...problem is....I'm a native Floridian.....4th generation...from SOUTH FL originally, where it never got below 60! One of the reasons we moved here was to have a change of seasons and because it was quiet. I'm beginning to doubt both.
But, we'll be there, layered and all.

Of course! But I'm from Minnesota.

Give me an hour more to finish blowing my nose.

I thought it was rather toasty and warm -- except my hands didn't, even though I was wearing ff gloves with liner..

Thanks for organizing a great ride Sue.

My iPhone screen didn't want to work with my gloves on so I didn't get very many pics.
I think we all had a great time. For those of you coming from the south end -- we waited for an hour but no one showed up. Just kidding. We were pretty sure that everyone from the south cancelled but we did hang around Lake Townsend park for about 20 minutes before heading north.
Here are the few pics I took. The two where everyone is sitting around is in front of Sandys House of Flavors, the bakery in Floral City. Good food.

The group at the beginning of the ride. Temps may have been in the low 40s by the time we left. No heckling from you folks up north.

Sitting in front of the bakery on the way back to Inverness. The cat was very entertaining.

Abject apologies, to all of you.
We actually left later than expected and decided to ride North from Floral City to see if we would see any of you coming South, because we thought you were riding South first. I guess we missed you but we rode to Inverness and I believe we passed some of you coming back. There were about 6 riders in a group that we said hi to as they went past in the northerly direction, and my wife said that she noticed that they had name tags on. We were riding South, I had a green and white windbreaker an was riding my dark blue diamondback hybrid, my wife was the girl bundled up in a light purple jacket and a striped beanie hat, riding a pink vintage Schwinn cruiser.
When we finished up at Floral City again we drove up to Inverness and ended up in Stumpknockers, and got some food before we headed home.

Sorry we missed you guys, but hopefully we can all get together another time. If anyone is up for a ride any weekend and they want to contact me me to arange it, just pm me. My wife isn't a quick rider, and she doesn't enjoy long distances, so ten miles is about her limit.
I wish I'd had a phone number that I could have shouted one of you all to find out which way you'd head, and what your location was, just so we could have met you all.

Catch you soon,

Les
