It must have been us as we had nametags. I am staying near the Withlacoochee until March 10 so if you want to ride anytime feel free to pm me. Short rides, long rides, it's all good.

What a great group of folks! Really enjoyed meeting and riding with everyone. Many thanks to Ron - my co-orgainizer. Who knew, a month ago when we planned this and the temps were in the 80's that we'd be riding on the coldest day so far this winter. Thanks also for showing us where the pie shop is. It will become a regular stop when on the Trail. Here's a couple of pictures: the group at the caboose at the start; a short stop on the trail at Floral City. Ron at the pie shop and info from my Garmin on the ride.

If we do the 2nd Annual Florida BF Withlacoochee Ride next year, I promise warmer weather. Perhaps we should schedule it in August?

Again, thanks to the riders!
Sue

Nice reports and what sounds like a great ride and fellowship. Enjoyed your pictures very much, even the cat being and cat "naughty" pic. Looking forward to any more reports that may get posted, too.

Excellent, we'll definitely arrange a ride before you leave then. Is any particular day preferential, and which trailhead is most convenient to where you're staying?

You do realize that pick a weekend in August, that it will be either the first or the worst tropical storm or hurricane of the weekend.

Anyway, I'm sorry I missed it. I was able to round up some clothes but then my youngest got a stomach virus and I got a whacking cough. I'm hanging my head in shame at my unweather goddess ability as I suggested this date because of President's Day tomorrow. No more dated suggestions from me, other than NOT the first Sunday in October as that is the Trail's fundraiser ride day, unless we do that as a group.

Was a nice chilly ride and was great meeting everyone. So nice to put faces to names. I know some of you were losing layers as we rode, but not me. Sue, you were right....was much cooler heading back north into the wind. I don't think I warmed up until we went to lunch at Beef O Brady's.

Thanks to Sue and Ron for putting this together. Looking foward to next year.

Good point about the fundraising ride. Maybe a fun idea to all meet somewhere that day, or to arrange a lunch meeting point.

Liamskymom, you're officially fired as the weather goddess.
Actually I love riding on a cool day like today, so it was just about perfect for me. The summer sun and riding in 95 degrees of heat and humidity, saps the strength and enjoyment out of anything much more than about 15 miles. I'm good for 40 on a day like today.

Anyone that wants to meet for a ride on the Withlacoochee, just let me know, and I'm sure we can work something out. I'm only about 25 minutes south of SR50 trailhead at ridge Manor, and even closer to the Southern terminus, but I'd be up for meeting at a trailhead further North, if it's more convenient.

I really had a great time riding with you guys. It was worth the drive up from Tampa to meet such nice people. I will definitely be at the next one, hopefully with my wife. And although it was a chilly start, it really turned out to be a nice day for the ride. Good work Sue and Ron for putting this together.

The only day of the week that doesn't work for me is Monday. I am in an RV park by the Central Ridge District Park, which is about 6 miles from the north end of the trail. It is a trailhead but not marked on the map. It is also fairly close to the Citrus Springs trailhead. Hernando is half way between Central Ridge and Inverness. Inverness is 11.5 miles from me.

You are very close to LiamSkyMom. Maybe all of us can get together and ride. I have no problem driving down to the Ridge Manor trailhead if it is easier for all of you. Or, we could do what LSM and I did. I drove down to Floral City and rode south, meeting LSM who started at Ridge Manor. I get a nice ride of about 50 miles if I start at Floral City and go to the south end.

Wondering about the best place for tent camping in the area...

Silver Lake is awesome for tent camping. My neighbors camp there frequently. I think it is too close to camp there myself.

Goldfinch - As soon as I get over this cold or croup or whatever I have, I will be ready to ride again. Not coughing as much as Friday and the weekend, but still not good.

Since the south end isn't much farther than Inverness I can meet up with folks from the south end any time. Or I can meet in Floral City.
Maybe I'll ride the Litespeed next time.

Either would work for me, Floral City or Ridge Manor. Tbh, I'm fine with riding 30 or 40 miles or whatever, if my wife isn't riding too, it's usually just time restrictions that dictates my riding distance. I work, so weekends are my free times, but it's possible that I can grab a day off in the week.

Ron,
sounds good to me, we can maybe have a kind of remeet, where at least some of us "locals" can actually make up for not making it to the official meet-up.

We'll keep you in the loop, and try and get something arranged up before Goldfinch leaves us to fly North again.

Really! LookinUp and Ron, how about a re-meet this weekend when it's going to be in the 80's? You know ... for your fair-weather friends ... native Floridians ... semi-natives ... chicken****s ... like Maggi and me!

Build it, and we will come! Promise!

Sunday I am meeting up with Sue and some others for a ride north of here . (If it doesn't rain--the forecast looks iffy). Next weekend (or week day if you are among us retired) is good for me if people want to plan something. A meet in Floral City and a ride south would be nice.

Well, fire's already said he works during the week, and so does my wife. To get maximum participation it'd almost have to be on a weekend.

I'm doing the ride with Sue and others this coming weekend.
Can't do anything the following weekend. I'll be out of town 2/28 thru 3/4(??). I really hope this will be our last trip to the tundra. The drive from here the ATL is getting longer as we get older.

Any thoughts on having a large BF group at the Withlacoochee Clean Air Ride on 3/23?
I've done the ride for the past 2 years. The rest stop (aka food) at Ridge Manor is awesome.

This Sunday is unlikely for me, we already have tentative plans to do something with some friends.
Let me see what I can work out for a day next week. I'd like to be able to meet you all at some point, and if you're not normally in the area, I'll make sure we get a ride before you disappear again for the Summer.

While you're down this way, you might try the Hawthorn State Trail up at Gainesville, and also the Lake Butler to Palatka trail. They're both nice trails. With Sue being based up at Ocala, you'd be going right past her to get to the Hawthorne too.

Good luck with the trip up there, mate. We'll meet up eventually even if it's not for a week or two, you're not that far from me.
What did you think of the Withlacoochie Bay Trail?
