Can anyone recommend a good first century in Alabama? I live in Birmingham. Thanks

Old Howard comes up April 20th and is fairly flat, although sometimes very windy (that time of year in AL), and you can decide well into the ride whether you feel up for the 100, or short-cut it for 75 (I did the 75 last time - the wind had taken it out of me).

If you feel like a trip to Dothan is in order, the TriStates 100 should be fairly flat and is even earlier on Apr 6th (haven't done this one yet)
The Ironworks (Tannehill) Century is just outside B'ham. but is not as flat - has a set of three nice early hills, and in the past has included some not so nice pavement. Hope that will change this year. I don't see a website up yet, but scheduled for Apr 13th.

Take a look at Cheaha. Very nice weekend. I've done the century several times. Don't let the climbing scare you. The route is an out and back so if you get tired you can just turn around and head back the way you came. Very well supported and good roads. There are a fair number of riders that come over from Birmingham and ride.
