Blue Ridge Pkwy & the Fed'l Shutdown....
Internet research overall says, at least early on, that the Blue Ridge Parkway will not be shutdown to traffic (think cycling); however, the Fed'l stores and facilities along the Parkway will be. I am simply relaying my interpretation of what I read on 3 sites, which included the newspapers from Roanoke (Roanoke.com) and Asheville (can't remember what "com" : - )

Update: Fed's have now reportedly shut down the privately leased Pisgah Inn, 30 miles up 'the hill' from Asheville, NC toward Cherokee, NC.

In the same article, it was commented that Peaks of Otter in VA had been similarly closed.

From what I understood, the spot in Asheville was shutdown because of the huge crack down the center of the road.
Peaks of Otter remains closed as far as I know, because the land it sits on is leased from the federal government.
Unfortunate situation for local business owners, that place is packed this time of year with all of the foliage.

Whoozers.... with that being the case then Asheville is bookended with Blueridge closures .... cause up the other northeasterly side, which goes up Mt. Mitchell, the Craggy Gardens section I believe is still closed for the same reason (unable to verify cause the Fed website that usually is available to report Blueridge Parkway road closures/repairs, also, has a huge crack running thru the middle of it.).

I may be confusing the two areas then.
Sucks that the parkway is being closed during everyone's busy season. It's killing tourism in small towns.
