Springfield, MO to Bentonville, AR Route ?

Has anyone made a ride from Springfield to Bentonville, Fayetteville or the general area?
Any suggestions on a route? The route you took? Experiences, observations?
Good camp sites?
Any feedback would be helpful.
Thanks,
Alan

Friend and I rode from Cassville to Jane, MO ( just across the line from Bentonville). Here's the route we took.

I'd stay off hwy 86 between hwy 65 and Cassville. Lots of traffic, rumble strips force you to stay off shoulder of road, very hilly.

Hi Larry,
Thanks for your reply. Where in NWA are you? I live in Bella Vista.
What I'm doing is working on developing USBRS Route 51 which will connect the TransAmerica Trail with Louisiana. Here are three draft routes that I've put together. If you have any thoughts or feedback on any portion of them I'd sure appreciate it. My riding in Arkansas has been limited to the area around Bella Vista and Bentonville, and north of here like Anderson, so far. Although - boy, the weather the last few weeks has sure been a damper on getting out.
Alan

Alan,
I might be able to help you. I rode across Arkansas, from Missouri to Louisiana a couple years ago. Check out the link at the bottom of this message.

Right now 51 is considered a corridor, that is a broad general path in which a route may be developed, and it is only in the earliest stages of development, which I'm sketching out. The concept is to connect the TransAm to Louisiana. This weekend I did a car reconnaissance of two possible routes. The first included Hwy 97 south to Cassville then 37 south to Seligman, then north of Pea Ridge over to Bella Vista north of Pea Ridge. It was good. A bit busy on 37 but good wide shoulders. The other route I took started from Oak Grove, MO, south towards Springfield and Clever, then back to Cassville. It had some very hilly, and steep, sections. I liked the first route better as it was a little more open and definitely not as hilly and better sight lines. I have a third route sketched in west of Joplin. In a week or so I'm going to ride them.

I just realized that you're interested in the route south of Fayetteville. Here's a link to the draft route and you can see what I've sketched in. If you have any suggestions let me know. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/3958316
