    Hello from Melbourne, FL

I'm Dan from Melbourne, FL. New to the forum. Not new to cycling but returning after an extended absence. I just bought a tri frame and headset to begin building my first triathlon bike. Won't be ready for the first ride for a few months but the plan is to build the bike this year so I can begin training for my first triathlon no later than 1/1/15. My first tri would be in the fall of 2015. I've been running and loosing weight for 2 years and planning to start strengthening the swimming skills this year.

Hello from Okeechobee, Dan. I envy your determination and grit, to run a marathon and then ride a bike and swim a long distance all in one day is quite an accomplishment. Not for me, not at this point in my life. Crossing the big 60 this fall, and looking forward to some bicycle touring in the next few summers as vacation time becomes available.

Welcome aboard the Forum, you can find an answer to any problem here on these boards.

    Best wishes with your training,

    Tractor Tom in Okeechobee FL

Hello Tractor Tom, Actually the triathlon distance I am looking toward is the sprint distance which is much shorter. Although there doesn't seem to be a universally agreed upon fixed distance for a sprint the one they have here in Melbourne is 1/4 mile swim, 12.5 mile bike and 3.1 mile run. Obviously intended for the newcomers to triathlon.

Thanks for the welcome and the training wishes.

    Dan in Melbourne, FL
