New cyclist south florida

Hey everyone,

Looking for some roads that are a little more bike friendly (bike lanes)

Davie sunrise plantation area, willing to drive out a little if need be to get there.

Wife is a little scared of traffic and we would like to find something close by if possible

Dear Bujajua:

I live in South Florida too!. Try the parks:

Markham
Quiet Waters
Tradewinds
Hollywood Boardwalk aka 2 miles
Everglades =mosquitoes are an issue

I highly recommend: Things to do in Florida: Florida Rambler

Harder much harder in Miami. Miami is for the most part congested and somewhat dirty. I like the city but it is rather dangerous/scary ---not for the reasons you might think.
For me the danger =directly related to the DARK STREETS. In the more "urban" you know what that is a code word for---the streets are POORLY lit VERY DARK. I love riding at night LOVE it but....
good grief...the lighting sucks in various parts of Miami.

Others may disagree...

There are lot of bike trails(multi-use paths)out in Davie(see link)including one that follows Griffin Rd (just to the north)that I think is called the orange trail.Also roadies like riding out in Westin on S Post Rd and some of the others.Actually,a lot of the major roads out that way University/Oakland Park/Griffin etc have bike lanes and I have ridden them many times but there is a lot of traffic on these which your wife probably wouldn't like as much.
