How many people normally carry their license when they ride? I only have my ID bracelet.

When riding through the base - always. It's a safe assumption that any cyclist you see on the base has their ID. Without it, you're not on the base.

Yes, I understand that an ID is needed to access the base, I was speaking about "normal" rides that do not involve the base.

One day I will do that ride.

I used to never carry it, but I just changed insurance, so my Road ID is wrong. Right now, I carry ID and insurance card. I need to get off my butt and get a new Road ID ordered.

But I'll jump through whatever hoops they want, and just be glad to be permitted to ride on their wonderful roads instead of sucking carcinogens directly from I5's tailpipe.
Don't worry Chris, I stopped at the gate and put in a good word for you. I even distributed a few pictures of you. It took me quite a while to photoshop in the suicide vest and AK 47 but it turned out well.

I typically carry an expired license in the ziploc with my phone (and a roadID) For rides going through the base, I swap it out for the unexpired one.

I always carry my current license when I ride. That and my health insurance card. And my credit card. Sometimes my Starbucks card!

Starbucks app on your phone! C'mon, you don't need that extra 13 grams of starbucks card on those hills you ride!

Ah . . . no. My phone I usually don't carry since it's lots heavier than my Starbucks card!

Ooorah! Mine worked today and we had the most wonderful ride up to SanClem and back. I was a little unnerved when they asked both times, "Have you registered online?" when I never got a confirming email, but then I realized they're asking because it would be a waste of time for them to scan my license if I hadn't.
Saw two groups of idiots taking a lane, one just carelessly holding up the car behind them, and another group echeloning on a remote stretch with a car approaching.
I shouted out, "You're on base, guys! Single file please!" It's clearly stated in their rules that we must ride FRAP and single file, but who bothers with terms & conditions when clicking through? Hopefully these clods don't ruin it for everyone.

Here are the rules pasted from The Cycling Dude's Page:
The following rules apply to all individuals utilizing the bicycle course:

Do not deviate from the above-identified route. Failure to stay on the route can result in a citation for trespassing.

All individuals utilizing the course must have picture identification.

A safety helmet must be worn.

Bicyclists must remain in single file

Racing is unauthorized.

Hmm... These rules are nearly a decade old and I was unable to find Camp Pendleton's bike rules anywhere, not even on the application site. I remember seeing a sign on post while riding, but maybe it's time to contact the MPs and let them know this might be the reason some of us don't understand the rules...

Denooch & R8rryder: Bump that noise, especially heading North on the shoulder, first in line for 10,000 tailpipes.

I was worried when I hadn't heard back either, but I went there last week and it went fine. They scanned my license, while asking if I'd registered online & if I knew the bike route through Post, and there was no problem at all.

I just got off the phone with the base access office. The gal there told me I would NOT receive any confirmation. If I was declined access I would be notified. Hmm, seems they would say that, or send a confirmation of some type. I plan to ride at Pendleton in a couple weeks. Hope I don't get that far only to be turned away.

Camp Pendleton new baseaccess for cyclist will start soon, please read

My "team" rode to Solana Beach this past Saturday. When myself and three others got to gate the Soldier at the gate just looked at each ID and sent us thru. We heard later at Pizza Port that they did in fact scan licenses for others. None on our group had any issues accessing base.

I'm planning on a ARTIC to Carlsbad/Oceanside ride on Sunday 4/3 with a pal from TUC

Not sure if it's been covered here or not yet but...

There is no response from the base after you fill out the new form. They only contact you if the there is an issue. I called the base and this was the response I received.

Also I ride through the base about two weeks ago on a Friday. The sentry only looked at my license like they always do. There was no checking of any system to ensure I had filled out the new online bike security thing. Maybe one day?
