Joy I am blown away by what you can do!!!!! amazing talent!!!!

Thanks ecnetsixe.
I find it such a relief that my road bike doesn't bite, kick, or have a mind of it's own!

Wow, I was reading this thread (all 19pages) and getting excited about posting myself, when, on p18, I got name-jacked! My name is also Stephen from Rancho Cucamonga. ARGHH!! Oh well, I go to school at UC Irvine, so I'll just change that to Steve from Irvine. HAH!

Oh well...

I just started road biking (abt a month ago). Now I'm riding around the foothills in Rancho Cucamonga for winter break. At school, (which I consider to be my home, really) my favorite ride is from UCI up Newport Coast, and down the ocean side (what a view at 45mph!). Anyways, I ride a charcoal grey 2005 Cannondale CAAD7 R700, that is my pride and joy ever since I got it in after Thanksgiving.

Thats all.

Yeah, the Back Bay route in Newport is a great ride. When I used to work in the research park across from UCI, we'd ride from there to the pier.

And we could just call you "Stephen number 2". :-P

Hi to all. I've been lurking around here for a couple months without formally introducing myself. I've met some great people here. I ride in San Dimas occasionally, but mostly in Ontario, Rancho C., and North Fontana. Here are some pics from my ride today. :)

I'm Lee, I live in Torrance, moving to Manhattan Beach in a few months. I'm a roadie and I ride a Leader 736R. A full carbon roadie and a mountain bike are in my near future.

I'm in medical sales, mostly Orthopaedics, but I'm unemployed right now, since Nov 10th, because I want to be. Working 65-70 hours a week for the past 3 years has really made me be a dull boy; I have another gig starting in January with another orthopaedic company.

I'm a noob to cycling as far as me and the bike is concerned but I have been an avid fan of the sport for 20 years and have followed the TDF since 1986.

I like good scotch, red meat, adrenaline rushes, girls with long hair, riding the fastest production motorcycle on the planet, surfing, fast cars and traveling to other countries. I'm not opposed to flinging myself out of an airplane, off a bridge, building, cliff or antennae tower as long as I have a parachute.

I'm from Texas ya'll but I hate country music, the Dallas Cowboys and rednecks. Howdy.

Thanks! I do like to eat...a lot. :)

The Edge is a nickname I've been stuck with by my buddies in Ireland. Everybody in Ireland has one and it is given by your friends with humor and endearment. I play guitar (horribly) and I'm usually on the "edge" of a lot of things...I don't take myself seriously despite the nickname. :)

I hope to meet all of you on or off the road. Thanks caligurl and brandy. :D

Hi all. Been riding since the beginning of November when I finally bought a real bike (Trek 5200 on a clearout sale since its being discontinued for 2007).

I was a pack a day smoker for about 16 years and have cut down significantly to the point where I'll only break down when I'm utterly trashed and have lost all and any semblance of willpower. It's just too bad I don't get drunk more often ;) Aaaaanyway, I started to really pack on the pounds because of it and just decided that I should get off my ass and do something.

During the weekday evenings I usually go for a small loop covering PCH from Warner (at the Jack 'n The Box) up a little past Brookhurst where the Santa Ana River Trail starts up. On weekends I'll usually ride up to the Santa Ana River and take it as far up as I think I can go and then curse myself on the way back when my legs are shot and have to deal with a strong headwind. 3 Weeks ago was the first time I made it to the end, though I swear I almost didn't make it because the headwinds were killing me on the way up.

For now I'm just a newbie flatlander with absolutely no climbing skills, though I'm trying to change that by looking for some new areas with some beginner hills to try out on the weekends. So if you guys see what appears to be a dark, skinny looking Asian dude with a fat belly, scrawny legs and struggling up an overpass (or on the up through an underpass)...yup thats me. :D

Cheers,
Nacy

Gretzky 12-21-06 08:38 PM

Hello, and welcome Nacy!! I ride PCH a lot, and hope to see you out there soon

Thanks Gretzky! Hope to see you out there as well. My rides down PCH lately have been quite nice, lots of friendly people out there. Yesterday was no exception as nearly EVERYONE gave some kind of acknowledgment.

Heyya...

Name's Joel. Riding -- usually one of two directions from the San Fernando Valley (most of the time I ride from home rather than drive somewhere). Option 1: down to S. Monica to Redondo & back or PV. Option 2: Mulholland Highway to Agoura. I mix up the specifics along the way.

When I'm more pressed for time, I make runs through Griffith Park. Also started doing more organized rides this past year -- Cool Breeze, Ojai Century, Rosarito. Starting to prep for the Solvang Double in March (since it occurs the day before my birthday and I can deny my aging with my first double).

Been riding pretty regularly for almost 20 years, but didn't start the longer rides until about 5 years ago.
