4 hours sounds about right. Took my 6 hours to drive to San Jose from San Fernando Valley, and Solvang is about 2.5 for me.
Should I make this a goal since I have been off the bike for almost 2 weeks with an injury? Work back up to 50 mile rides by then? Hoping to get the bike repaired by Tues, and the shoulder is sore but I can still support myself on the handlebars.

You are so funny! As IF I could keep up w/you two monsterettes! (like my new word?) However, it will be really great to see you both!
I still haven't told DH so there is a remote possibility that I'll have to cancel at the last minute, but hopefully not! I've got 5 rides in a row though starting 10/15 so he's gonna be on the grumpy side about then Guess I'd better be really tolerant of the golf stuff huh?
I can't wait to see your new bike! I'm so happy for you! You know, it was inevitable ... as soon as you got hooked on the road stuff ya know

I'm seriously considering this one now. I met a guy today who was riding his first century (strong rider and very nice). He was talking about it. I also met Scootcore (Bill) and his friend (yippee - I met more BFers!) who expressed some interest (as well as a couple of my biking buddies). Small world, but it turns out Scootcore knows the "first century" guy. It always amazes me - the whole "six degrees of separation" thing!

based on what most of the SoCal peeps do on a regular basis, this ride is flat

I'll let DH know that I will be in grave danger if I have to cancel!.... Nah... you can tell him!
Actually, I'm gonna talk to him about the 5 weeks worth of rides I've got lined up and see if I can offset them somehow (minds outa the gutter please... of course, yes, that'll probably be involved as well! ) with some golf trade off.... I'll be planning my attack while I'm traveling this week!
Oh, and Injured... you'd better be there the night before if you want to actually see me... cause other than the 1/2 second you'll see the back of me as you zoom by, that'll be it!

we've gotta work on you and your driving issues ... I even drove up to Healdsburg for a ride this year! Actually, if I could get away w/it, I'd actually do a few more rides up in the bay area

I know... that was the other issue... I think I'm gonna opt for Solvang though because at least there is some hope that someone will finish behind me

Seriously, (insert whine and sad-sack face) I love the Solvang Prelude. It is such a gorgeous ride! It also cost $$ too...hmmm. Maybe I will crash the BF Riverside ride - Ugh! Decisions, decisions...

Not yet, but that sounds good. Gonna run to Bev-Mo and get some beer.
