I've been working on that but he's got the same driving phobia you do! I personally don't think anything of driving all over the place but apparently that is not the norm

If you change your mind, I can share my room but ONLY if you promise to make sure I'm still alive before you head home!

t~

ps. You know... Kar3368 started out just like you and now she's a monster roadie... AND she's getting that new Trek Project One.... better start preppin' Paul for the shock!!!

I don't have a phobia, but I just don't think all of these related expenses are going to be received too well.

Believe me, I'm totally hooked and would do EVERY ride I possibly could if it were financially feasible.

... just tell DH that these fees are much less expensive than what you'll want to buy if you spent the same time shopping on the internet??? will that work?

Yeah! Come on Tiff! If I drove 3.5 hours (oh, wait a minute, make that 4.5 in rush hour) for Lighthouse - what's a little 3 for you? Besides, it's a gorgeous ride, and we could all have Danish dumplings and wine after.

Yes, indeedy, he did! I'm skeered of what his lust smell is though, and I may just have to bring a little odor spray. hee hee hee. I can't imagine he'll smell worse than the buffalo.

I'm sorry to hear that so many consider Solvang to be too far. I was looking forward to meeting some of the SoCal riders. This ride will be a mini-vacation for my family. We are staying Friday and Saturday in Lompoc. In addition to the ride, we plan on doing the touristy things: see the La Purísima mission, tour the murals in Lompoc, go shopping in Solvang. I'm looking forward to this vacation. I hope to see some of you folks there.

BTW, I'll probably be riding from Lompoc to the Solvang Saturday morning. If anyone is planning on doing the same, it would be great to ride in with you.

For those of you hanging on the fence about doing the Solvang Prelude, maybe this will help. The La Purisma Mission is having a special event "Village Days." Below is a brief write-up. For those with small children, it should be educational and fun.

Village Days
Park: La Purísima Mission SHP

11:00 AM - 2:00 PM

The Tule Village comes to life as visitors experience the blending of traditional Chumash and Colonial Spanish life ways. Demonstrators help visitors learn a variety of skills such as grinding acorns, basket weaving, building a tule house, making soapstone beads or tule dolls, and playing Chumash games.

I haven't registered yet either But I will...perhaps today. I can't wait. Oh, and closer to, we should either exchange cell phone #s, or figure out a spot to meet the morning of so that we can find each other! That or invest in flare guns.

Flare guns are better. Usually Solvang rides are huge in numbers participating... Flares would be visible from miles away even in daylight.

We can exchange #'s, but we should meet somewhere before the ride. I gotta get a hotel too.

We could all just meet at the front of the Scandinavian Hotel, right before you exit the driveway. That's a good meeting spot. I'm driving up the morning of since I'm close enough to do that.
