Nice to know you're not detaching it for the ride.

urbanknight 10-18-06 06:58 PM

Can I leave mine behind (pun intended) or would you gals like to look at it too? I figure I'd drop 10 lb detaching that thing myself. Wife will be home soon so I'll see if she's up for the hike. I think this motel in Buellton allows dogs as well. If not, we'll bring a tend and camp at the RV Park!

Speaking of Buellton...tell her to go to Ostrich Land! :D I swear, I could look at those things all day...they have to be one of the funkiest creatures on the planet! :p

Yeah we passed by there on the way to Santa Ynez Mission last Spring. Funny stuff, but not sure how much time she'll want to spend there. I wonder what the dog would think of the ostriches. Between that and the hike(s), she should find something to occupy herself for 5 or 6 hours. Are you all doing the 63 mile route?

Scootcore 10-18-06 07:17 PM

yup!

urbanknight 10-18-06 11:02 PM

I think I'm gonna have to skip out on this one. There aren't any hotels in Solvang still available and I know it will be a pain to find parking. I was planning on booking this back in September but my crash left me wondering if I would be back on the bike in time. Still just barely thinking I could work up to that long of a ride. I wanted to relive my teen years as this was my first organized ride ever. Maybe next year.

+1, I agree, I have done Solvang 7 times between the Prelude and the Century in the last 4 years. I am too cheap to stay at a hotel. I always drive up in the morning. It is no big deal.

Scootcore 10-19-06 11:00 AM

exactly...

yeah down I5, I dont know about 101. If ya know where Lake Nacamiento is, I think that is about 2.5 hours from here, of course that was towing my boat.

Scootcore 10-19-06 11:20 AM

yeah, just outside of san luis obispo....itll be about one more hour south of that

scvroadie 10-19-06 11:21 AM

If it is 2.5 hours from Paso Robles to Santa Cruz, is should just take a little over an hour from Paso Robles to Solvang.

I just checked mapquest from Santa Cruz to Solvang and it shows: Total Est. Time: 3 hours, 52 minutes Total Est. Distance: 230.36 miles Plus if you drive like most people from California, 3.5 hours should be easy.

Scootcore 10-19-06 11:23 AM

id have to agree...

caligurl 10-19-06 11:23 AM

i can always plan on subtracting at least 30 minutes from the times mapquest or yahoo maps state!

Scootcore 10-19-06 11:24 AM

likewise...and i dont even drive that fast!
