you can also get adjacent campsites, if that many camp!!

cottonwood is down on the "indio/highway 10" part of the park... i've got to go double check about black rock... i really think it's not in the park "proper".... be right back....

ok... yep... black rock is accessed via another road... closer to yucca valley... so still closer than, of course, orange county... but you'd have to either ride to 29 palms or drive to the start point!

let's see if this works: link to map of park

it takes 7 hours from my house to get to SJ and I'm closer than CG... okay, I'll say 8 hours. Still debating whether I'm going but Jason, you could come up 15 and leave your car here and we can drive from here if I go

Okay, not to sound like a complete idiot, but is this an organized ride or something put together by BF riders? I checked the other thread and couldn't determine (I'm thread-challenged, okay). I'm interested, although I'm not sure if any of you know me - and I'd hate to crash if this is a friend-ride-kind-of-thing. I've never been to JT let alone ridden up there and would consider going if ride is open to all. Oh, and one more thing, I'm a peppy morning person. So, if you guys are not, tell me to take a hike or I'll drive you all crazy.

Thanks! I'm thinking I'll drive in Friday afternoon/night and camp. If I stay Sat night too, I was thinking I might go for a MTB ride or hike on Sunday... if I'm up to it. Is mid-November busy season for JTNP?

Great! Then let me double-triple check that I can do it before I commit, but it sounds like a great ride. And good to know that you're peppy in the morning, too. I've gotten in trouble before being overly excited to ride at 7:00 a.m.!

I suffer from that disability called 'Selective Hearing- Undulating Temporary Ultrasonic Piercing' that seems to only manifest itself in men when they are near women. Therefore, I would think that your presence at the ride would be most welcome, even at 7 AM.

IMG! i so wish you lived near me! in the summer i want to be OUT THE DOOR as daybreak! hubby, however is poopy and doesn't like to get out of bed! UGH! even now that it's getting lighter later... i want to be out the door at 6:00 (and gripe about that cuz it's late!)

the JT ride most likely won't start at 7 though.... it's cool enough that we can start later to give people a chance to drive here! and allow it to warm up a bit cuz it will most likely be cold overnight! (we don't have the start time yet!)

I'd love to ride with you all. I'm coming from Bakersfield and I'd like to camp out...but I just looked at my calendar and I've got a century in Solvang scheduled for that day. Anybody want to do it twice? I'd rather do this than Solvang. Less travel and cheaper accommodations. If nobody want to do it twice, 56 mi. is still a good ride. If any one wants to ride share, lets hookup. Anyone from Fresno or Pismo area would be fine as you'll have to go by my house to get there.

Good to know that you suffer from that particular ailment. I'm delighted to know that I can help with that. I'll sit next to you, ride next to you, talk to you, cry on your shoulder, tell you my life story, ask you a zillion questions about how and why men think the way they do, tell you all the things about women that make men squirm and wish for sudden death, argue politics, sex and religion with you over and over and over...

Yeah! I already have a riding buddy! This is going to be so, so, so much fun...

Oh, I guess I should have clarified. I'm peppy in the morning and a brooding bear anytime after noon. Oh, this will interesting...

Now, do understand that my disability does not manifest itself to much if the topics and wit used to talk about the topics keeps my attention, so I might just end up talking your ear off.... but that will only occur after I drink some kind of warm caffinated beverage in the morning otherwise I might be walking around, but I am still asleep.

Oh, and remember that I am also awake until about 2AM normally, so you shouldn't be too mean to me for fear of retaliation

Hey, now, put that tongue away! I never offered any type of tart services! Besides, he's the one who says he stays up until 2AM - what he's doing and with whom he's doing it with will doubtfully be revealed to me. I'll be in my jammies and in bed by midnight - I need my sleep before a ride.

I'm not sure what you mean by "tart", but I have ridden with merider several times and she is a very nice person, (sorry to expose you), and a good rider, too. Actually, the same goes for caligurl, and I'm sure the two of you will enjoy meeting each other and riding together, if that should happen.
