I shaved my leg today...well part of it!
During my before work ride with my boys from the fire station, I was racing (25+ mph)out of Shady Canyon in Irvine when (to make a long story short) I crossed tires with the rider in front of me . Slammed on the brakes, went to the right, over the handlebars - shoulder rolled as my feet came unclipped - then hit the asphault with all of my right side - skidded about 15 feet and came to rest in the dirt shoulder. My partner who I was just sprinting against in front of me said that he felt our tires rub - then it sounded like someone had thrown a box full of dishes into the street . He looked behind and all he seen was a huge cloud of dirt. He thought a was dead! The damage turned out to be road rash right arm, right hip, theigh, and calf. My bike came out with a scratched shifter and skewer . Here is where the shaving part is. I rode back to the firestation and hobbled into the shower and shaved over all of the bits of rash... yes it was, and yes it did . I then scrubbed with antibactierial soap - yes it was and yes it did . Then I wrapped it in compression gause that I get free where I work . I was fine all day until I had to put on turnouts for a fire alarm - yes it did Oh well, I'll be riding again in two days. After red flag weather.

OUCH........I don't think I could have shaved that after that.....OUCH
Last time I got rash on my MTB, I went to urgent care and had them numb up the area so they can srub it clean. Well worth my $10 co pay
I hope you recover well.

Hi Bill,
Glad to hear you're basically OK. I still think that firefighting is more dangerous than cycling and more important too.
As for your legs, you might as well shave the rest.
Check out this article I wrote several years ago for my club newsletter:
