You also need to wear a helmet and be able to ride safely on the road with respect and courtesy to other riders.

Does this adult have any desire to take part in group rides with other riders?

Yes, you would need an adult who is responsible for you, a helmet, and a willingness and ability to respect other riders and ride safely on the road. (Are you comfortable with cars flying by at 60 MPH? Are your parents comfortable with you riding on roads where cars might fly by at 60 MPH?) Equally importantly, it would really help if you generally got along with the people in this subforum. If you can't get along online, you're not likely to enjoy yourself hanging out with the same people in a long day's riding.

Good points. Another consideration is that our rides tend to be long (45+ miles at the minimum and usually closer to 65+ miles) and while we are generally a no drop group, that is on the assumption that you're able to maintain the general speed of the group over a distance like that.
