December 10 Burrito Century?
Please note that the OFFICIAL Burrito Century thread is missing as of the system crash on 11/27. This is the new official ride thread.
Join us for the first annual BURRITO CENTURY. Sunday December 10, 2006.
Meet at Irvine Amtrak Station, 15215 Barranca Parkway, Irvine, CA 92618 at 6:15am. We roll at 6:45am sharp. Our destination is the San Diego Amtrak Station, 1050 Kettner Boulevard, San Diego, CA 92101. Approximately 102 miles.
This is a social, no drop ride. Undoubtedly, slower and faster groups will form. The key principle is looking out for your fellow BF riders.
Also, be sure to bring a valid picture ID. You absolutely need this for riding through Camp Pendelton.
WEATHER UPDATE 12/9:
Irvine, San Clemente, and Oceanside: 30% chance of morning showers on 12/10.
Route slips will be distributed at the ride. I may bring them to the party Saturday night as well. Here are the rest/regroup stops. I am posting them here in case you are unfamiliar with the areas. In that case, you may want to stare at a map for a bit before the ride.
Rest stop #1. 7-11 Store, 1118 S. El Camino Real, San Clemente 92672. It's at the corner of El Camino Real and Avenida Pico. It may be slightly off course, as the course takes us through the San Clemente train station lot. But the 7-11 is pretty obvious, and you should have no trouble seeing it. It's about 34 miles into the route. For those of you that did the BF ride to Solana Beach this summer, it's the same 7-11 we stopped at.
Lunch Stop: Lunch will be in the area surrounding the Solana Beach Amtrak Station. The address is 105 North Cedros Avenue, Solana Beach, CA 92075. It's quite visible from PCH, to your left (the non-beach side of PCH) once you've ridden south on PCH for a while. There are many food options there. Groups can eat where ever they like, based on time of arrival and preferences. Burritos aren't mandatory. This is approximately 65 miles into the ride. That's approximate, though.
Rest stop #3: La Jolla Village Square, at the corner of Villa La Jolla and Nobel Drive. Lots of options there.
Please respond (yes, again) to this thread saying if you're in or a "maybe."

Is this ride opened to the "ignored"? Sounds like it would be fun but I'd have Gina pick me up in SD cause trains put me in a bad mood! I should be back in shape by then.
Will there be markers on those that eat burritos so that we will know who not to draft?

I might be able to round up a few others if you don't mind. Don't worry, they're nothing like me!

I'm interested right now. Only problems I see are that it's a Sunday and it's during the Christmas, Thanksgiving season, so things can get iffy around that time.
