MTBing Big Bear tomorrow

Few friends and I are going up to Big Bear to ride their chair lifts up and DH back down. If anyone else is interested in have ALOT of fun, we'll be there about 10am. We're leaving San Diego at 8am. The chairlift cost $20 for the all day pass. PM me for contact info if you want to go.

no hardcore DH, we can't ride down the sky slops anymore and that was all the hardcore stuff. We take the chair up (15 mins or so) and ride down the side of the mountain. There are trails that both come down the left and right side. I think there are about 6-8 single tracks to lead to the bottom. It's all fire road at the top then branches to single tracks down. Some are more technical then others, some are fast and flowy, some are steep and rocky (riding down the creek), some are mixed. I raced superD up there last year with a $250 Fuji with 2" of working front travel. It was the loudest bike coming down the mountian but I wasn't extactly slow neither. The races were 15-20 minutes from the top down. 12 minutes was the pros times. Thats ALOT of time either way, the decent is about 1100ft from the top.

Best part about it, you don't have to CLIMB for the DH, ride back to the chair and do it all over. You can rest on the chair.

the ride is a blast, I built up my full suspension for racing SuperD and they canceled SuperD this year, so had to race XC, so had to build a XC racer...ARRRGGGG

You can ride the fire roads down, just don't look at the edge cuz you might not see the bottom, just the top of trees.

Years ago we did a ride starting in Fawnskin called "Mr Toads Wild Ride". It was about 35 miles with a rest in Green Valley Lake. jsigone, do you know if that is still doable? I'd love to do that again.

I'll just have to try and get some people to go up there and try it, I guess. Please give us a report about your trip when you get back.

plans got canceled...........you'd think that after working a 17 hour day yesturday to get all our product out by end of month shipments that I can at least have a saturday off.....NOPE. I have to work tomorrow. SOOOOOO pissed. I have to finish loading software on a few more systems and process all the shipments for the crap they didn't get out today Boss said I can take a day off next week off the books, so I guess it will work out.

My friends are still going to BB without me, bastards!!! I guess I have to hit a local trail up on the SS solo. Might do Sycamore Canyon from Poway side after work around noon. There's some good hill to try out and love the singles by the creekbed
